Identify the light-blue Blazer #258
The original casting dates to 1984 and represents a Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. Its metal body and base, opening doors and roof lights distinguish it from a generic fantasy SUV. Casting study.
| Collector / item number | #258 / 12351 |
|---|---|
| Body finish | Pearl light blue, also described as gray-blue |
| Interior / windows | Gray / blue-tinted |
| Identification detail | Red Hot Wheels logo on a side window; decorated hood and sides |
| Base | Unpainted metal; Malaysia marking |
| Wheel family | Construction tires, abbreviated CT |
| Nearby variation | Black-hub construction tires are also documented; confirm packaging year |
Do not identify the release by blue paint alone
South Texas Diecast lists a black-hub version in 1995 and 1996; the Newsletter places that variant in 1996. Their descriptions of the stripe colors also differ. Use clear photos of the actual decoration and the original package when the exact year matters, rather than treating either wording as a complete authentication.
The earlier glitter-blue #222 and darker blue #464 are separately cataloged combinations. An apparently deeper color under different lighting is not evidence of a valuable shade variation. Compare the whole model, especially the cabin color and wheel configuration. Compare the catalog entries.
A different Blazer for your loose collection

Loose Stars and Stripes Blazer
A blue, patriotic-themed Hot Wheels Blazer from our current catalog. Choose it for that decoration and the condition shown in its listing. It is not the pearl light-blue 1995 release.

Doors and roof details
Ask for both sides, a roof view and the underside. Check the door edges and hinges without forcing them, and look for broken or replaced roof components. A closed door in a photograph does not establish that its mechanism is intact; ask the seller to describe its operation.
Paint, printing and axles
Compare the upper body and wheel arches for chips or touch-ups. Look at all four wheel faces and ask whether the wheels or axles have been changed. Keep damage, a documented factory difference and an aftermarket modification as separate explanations until there is evidence to choose between them.
Loose, carded or a custom: choose your goal
A loose car suits a display where you want to see the model from every angle. A carded example adds packaging evidence but needs its own inspection: blister cracks, lifting, hanger damage and creases should be disclosed. Do not assume an attractive truck and an undamaged package are the same condition claim.
For a personalized display, browse finished custom Hot Wheels. For a project, choose a DIY Hot Wheels kit and check the specific donor and inclusions. These categories do not promise a Blazer kit. Measure the selected casting before ordering wheels and rubber tires.
How to compare value
Use dated completed sales with the same wheel configuration, condition and packaging format. Distinguish a single truck from a lot and account for delivery costs. Historical catalog prices and unsold asking prices are not current appraisals. This guide does not assign a premium to an unverified dark shade or make a promise about future resale value.
Blazer collector questions
Is the original casting a Chevrolet or a fantasy design?
The cited casting study identifies it as a Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. It is not the generic fantasy SUV described in some copied listings.
Does #258 alone settle the package year?
No. Related wheel configurations appear across adjacent-year references. Ask for packaging evidence when that distinction matters.
Are the pictured shopping truck and the 1995 model identical?
No. The shopping photo shows the separately listed Stars and Stripes Blazer.

Make the Hot Wheels Blazer 4×4 Light Blue record reproducible
For this article, check the light-blue Blazer through collector number, body, interior, glazing, tires and base. Use a fixed photo order—front or package, both sides, wheels and underside—so two examples can be compared without relying on seller shorthand.
A separate Stars and Stripes Blazer must stay labeled as a comparison. Record uncertainty directly rather than converting a partial match into a factory, rarity or value claim.
