1995 Hot Wheels Oshkosh Snowplow Orange: #201 Guide

The orange 1995 Hot Wheels Oshkosh Snowplow #201 is a utility-truck collectible with a removable front blade. Start with the plow, cab construction and construction-style wheels—not the unsupported stripe and five-spoke claims sometimes attached to this model. Release reference.
Identify the orange #201
The casting appeared in 1984. Later orange examples changed construction, so the original metal-cab specification should not be copied indiscriminately onto a mid-1990s truck. The Hot Wheels Newsletter records a plastic-cab version with a metal base and detachable plastic plow. Construction and variation study.
| Collector / item number | #201 / 2902 |
|---|---|
| Color | Orange truck, orange plow and orange interior/cab components |
| Base | Unpainted metal; Malaysia marking |
| Wheels | Orange-hub construction tires, cataloged as orange CT |
| Key completeness check | Removable front plow and its attachment points |
Compare the wheel versions without inventing scarcity
South Texas Diecast places the black-hub #201 before the 1995 orange-hub entry and an orange sawblade-wheel version afterward. The Newsletter includes several hub-color variants in its 1995 grouping. Use the wheel photograph and packaging together when a particular year matters; a generic “orange snowplow” listing is not enough to settle every variation.
The historic catalog later lists decorated work-truck versions as well. Those should not be used to invent stripes or municipal lettering on the earlier orange #201. Compare separate catalog entries.
Snow-plow models to collect or build
These are related winter-service choices in our catalog, not the vintage Hot Wheels Oshkosh. Choose a kit for assembly or a finished diecast model for display.

AMT Ford LNT-8000 snow-plow kit
A 1:25 assembly kit with a dump-body and snow-removal theme. It is not a ready-built toy. Paint and model cement are required separately; review the skill level and kit details.

Motormax VW pickup with snow plow
An orange 1:24 Volkswagen Type 2 model with a plow and camper shell. This finished diecast alternative is a different manufacturer, vehicle and scale from the Hot Wheels reference.

Buying a loose Oshkosh: completeness comes first
Inspect the blade and mounts
Ask for a close front view and an underside view showing how the plow attaches. Check the blade edges, tabs and attachment area for cracks, bends or glue. A truck without its blade may still suit a display, but it should be compared with other incomplete examples rather than priced as complete by default.
Check the bed and cab separately
Request both side views and a top view. Look for broken corners, scratches and mismatched components. Ask about replaced parts or reassembly, and avoid forcing a bed or attachment that feels stuck. An honest condition description is more useful than a blanket promise of “premium weight.”
Check all wheels
Compare the hub colors, tire faces and axle alignment in the actual listing photographs. Ask whether the truck rolls without a wheel rubbing. Do not treat a different hub color or faded plastic as a rare factory run without a matching documented combination.
How to compare value
Record the wheel type, cab construction, blade completeness and condition, then compare dated completed sales of equivalent trucks. Separate loose examples from sealed packages and individual trucks from multi-car lots. Include shipping in your comparison. The old price columns in historical catalogs are not current appraisals.
For a carded purchase, inspect the blister around the protruding plow, card corners and seal. A clean truck inside a crushed blister has a different package condition from an undamaged example. The guide does not attach a premium to an unverified darker shade or claim that an alternate wheel must be more valuable.
Choose the right project size
A larger truck kit requires different space, materials and skills from collecting a small loose car. For more assembly projects, browse model car and truck kits. For small-scale customization, explore DIY Hot Wheels kits and check the specific donor and inclusions.
Prefer a completed custom? Browse finished custom Hot Wheels. Those categories do not promise an Oshkosh kit or a vintage #201 in stock.
Oshkosh Snowplow questions
Should a complete #201 include the plow?
The reference version discussed here includes the detachable front blade. Ask explicitly whether it is present, intact and original to the offered truck.
Are Ultra Hots or five-spoke wheels the standard 1995 specification?
The cited orange #201 reference uses construction-style wheels. Match the correct catalog combination instead of applying a generic mid-1990s wheel description.
Do the product photographs show the vintage Oshkosh?
No. They show a separately offered AMT Ford kit and Motormax Volkswagen model, labeled by manufacturer, scale and assembly requirement.
Does the orange color make it rare?
Color alone does not establish rarity. Compare a documented variation, original components and condition before accepting a premium.

Make the Hot Wheels Oshkosh Snowplow Orange record reproducible
For this article, treat the Oshkosh Snowplow as a working-truck record with the correct truck, plow, mount, wheels and underside. Use a fixed photo order—front or package, both sides, wheels and underside—so two examples can be compared without relying on seller shorthand.
Do not force the plow or mount; disclose missing or replaced parts. Record uncertainty directly rather than converting a partial match into a factory, rarity or value claim.
