This page is devoted to 1998 Ford Escort WRC #7 Kankkunen RAC Rally – IXO 1:18, the exact scale model cars sold under the IXO Models record. The goal is practical identification: what the listing confirms, what remains unverified, and what a buyer or builder should compare before using the item.

A correct match requires more than recognizing the brand. The scale marker 1:18 is part of the exact identity and should be matched before purchase. The year 1998 belongs to the listing identity; it should not automatically be treated as the manufacturing date of the item. The number 7 separates this release from visually similar versions. The SKU F977-18RMC170A22 provides the most efficient cross-check when another listing uses slightly different punctuation or wording.
Evidence taken from the live record
The source description says: “Ford Escort WRC #7 driven by Juha Kankkunen and Juha Repo to second place at the 1998 RAC Rally by IXO Models. This 1:18 scale diecast rally car is intended for collector display. Review the listing photos for the exact rally livery, wheels and packaging. Item: 18RMC170A22.” This is useful evidence, but it is not expanded beyond what the listing supports. Missing dimensions, materials, compatibility claims or package contents remain open questions.
How to evaluate this product type
For a diecast or scale collectible, the subject name alone is insufficient. Compare body casting, finish, graphics, wheel design, interior, base markings and packaging format. On 1998 Ford Escort WRC #7 Kankkunen RAC Rally – IXO 1:18, the exact photo set and SKU F977-18RMC170A22 are the reference pair; a model with the same vehicle name but a different wheel, road number or package is a different release.
Condition language must also match the format. A loose item is judged from the photographed surfaces and axles, while a packaged item adds card, blister, box and seal condition. A finished custom should be assessed for workmanship and disclosed modifications; a build kit should be assessed for included parts and fitment rather than as a completed collectible.
The details to verify next
The exact item should drive the decision. A collector seeking an original release, a builder seeking a donor casting and a gift buyer seeking a recognizable subject may all evaluate the same listing differently. Recording those intended uses prevents condition or packaging details from being overlooked.
Keep the invoice, SKU and one reference photograph with the collection record so the item can later be distinguished from a close variant.
What to inspect in the product images
Review all 3 available images in sequence rather than judging the item from the first thumbnail. Front, side, reverse, package and detail views answer different questions. The record is strongest when those views agree with the title and SKU F977-18RMC170A22.

Why the complete record should be retained
1998 Ford Escort WRC #7 Kankkunen RAC Rally – IXO 1:18 is filed as a Scale Model Cars from IXO Models. Its compact reference is F977-18RMC170A22.
