Maisto
Maisto Diecast Guide: Scales, Models & Assembly Kits

Choose Maisto by scale, item number and product format.
Maisto sells finished diecast models and assembly kits across several scales. Two listings can represent similar vehicles yet differ substantially in display size, opening features, part count and required assembly.
Maisto’s company history says the brand name was registered in 1990 by May Cheong. The broader May Cheong Group traces its manufacturing history to 1967 and says it produced its first die-cast toy eleven years later. Those milestones do not identify an individual model; the product item number does.

Scale labels describe proportion, not every physical dimension
A 1:18 model is generally larger than a 1:24 or 1:26 model of the same real vehicle. Different real vehicles have different proportions, so two models with nearby scale labels can still occupy different shelf space.
Check listed assembled length, width and height when available. For cases or shelves, allow room for mirrors, opening doors, hoods or engine covers. Product photos can show detail, but they are not a measurement scale.
| Current example | Scale | Format |
|---|---|---|
| 1965 Buick Riviera, 31214BL | 1:26 | Finished Special Edition model. |
| 2023 Toyota Tacoma, 39539GRN | 1:27 | 38-part Assembly Line kit; screwdriver included; no paint or cement required. |
| 2017 Camaro ZL1, 31512Y | 1:24 | Finished model with opening hood and doors. |
| Lamborghini Centenario, 31386OR | 1:18 | Finished model with opening frunk, doors and engine compartment. |

- Match the Maisto item number and complete vehicle name.
- Confirm scale and approximate dimensions.
- Check whether the listing is a finished model or an assembly kit.
- Review opening features, tire material and included tools or parts.
- Allow for package-art variation when the current listing discloses it.
Do not treat a vehicle model year as the diecast release year. Do not assume every model in one scale has the same features.
