Custom Matchbox Porsche Guide: 914, GT3, Targa, Cabriolet or Panamera

Custom Matchbox 1971 Porsche 914, Orange with chrome wheels, side view

MM's custom Matchbox Porsche offers cover different named models as well as different wheel combinations. Start by choosing the Porsche body you want: 1971 914, 911 GT3, 911 Targa 4, 911 Carrera Cabriolet or Panamera. Then compare the finish and installed wheels on the actual completed custom.

Five separate builds

Named casting Listed body finish Installed wheel finish
1971 Porsche 914 Orange factory body Chrome
Porsche 911 GT3 Blue and white White
Porsche 911 Targa 4 Metallic blue Silver
Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Red Red
Porsche Panamera Metallic blue factory body Black

Each offer describes a completed MM custom with rubber tires, sold loose. The wheels are installed on the vehicle, not supplied as a separate replacement-wheel pack. These five are a selection of cataloged builds, not a complete Matchbox Porsche release list.

Choose body identity before wheel color

A 914 is not a variation of the 911 casting, and the Panamera is a separately named model. Among the 911 offers, keep GT3, Targa 4 and Carrera Cabriolet in your record rather than labeling all three simply “911.” Those names help you compare the actual bodies and avoid buying a duplicate you did not intend.

For a small collection, one body shape that you enjoy may be enough. For a Porsche-focused shelf, choose models that provide visible variety from your viewing angle. Do not assume a roof component or door moves because the represented full-size car has that feature; confirm any working feature on the miniature separately.

What do the wheels change?

White wheels against blue-and-white bodywork give the GT3 a different visual balance from the Targa's metallic-blue-and-silver combination. Red wheels coordinate with the Carrera Cabriolet's red body, while black wheels make another contrast on the metallic-blue Panamera. These are appearance choices, not rankings of grip, speed or factory prestige.

Rubber tires do not make the modified car an untouched factory collector release. Record Muncle Mikes as the customizer alongside Matchbox as the original toy brand. If factory-release collecting is your goal, keep these modified examples distinct in your notes.

Inspect each actual gallery

Review both product views where provided, checking finish, wheel placement, glazing and visible condition. A named color does not tell you the precise surface condition of every car in that color. If a hidden area matters, obtain a clear view rather than treating a clean side photograph as proof.

The product descriptions list these examples at 1:64, but a carrier or display space still needs a fit check. Measure the actual miniature's length, width and height and account for the wheel setup. Scale labeling does not establish that every Porsche will fit the same tight compartment.

Build a useful comparison

Choose two contrasting models before filling an entire row. An orange 914 beside a metallic-blue Targa provides both color and named-body contrast. Compare the GT3, Carrera Cabriolet and Panamera on their own pages. Each remains a separate purchase with its own current availability.
