Estes Celestial Explorer™ Model Rocket Kit #0689: Kit, Motor & Launch Planning Guide

Estes Celestial Explorer™ Model Rocket Kit #0689 is the specific model rocket kit represented by this listing from Estes. This guide interprets the exact record—its title, SKU, photographed item, variant state and catalog context—rather than stretching a generic category article over the product.

How this release is identified

• Exact product: Estes Celestial Explorer™ Model Rocket Kit #0689
• Brand or vendor: Estes
• Product type: Model Rocket Kit
• SKU or catalog key: EST0689
• Scale stated in the record: 1/8
• Road or release number: 0689
• Variants reviewed: 1
• Product images indexed: 3

The recorded price at verification was $21.99 before shipping and tax. At least one variant was orderable when the record was checked.

The scale marker 1/8 is part of the exact identity and should be matched before purchase. The number 0689 separates this release from visually similar versions. The working catalog key is EST0689. That key should travel with the saved URL and product image so a later comparison does not collapse this item into another model rocket kit listing.

Reading the source record carefully

The product page identifies the item this way: “Estes Celestial Explorer Model Rocket Kit #0689 is a beginner quick-build rocket with molded plastic fins and a 12-inch parachute. Assembly and launch supplies are separate. Launch readiness Approved motors: A8-3, B6-4 and C6-5 Launch rod: 1/8 inch Recovery: 12-inch parachute Manufacturer-stated maximum: up to 1,000 feet under appropriate conditions Still required A compatible launch pad and controller, exact approved engine, starter, recovery wadding, four AA alkaline batteries and plastic cement are required. Recommended for ages 10 and older, with adult supervision for rocketeers under 12.” That excerpt anchors the guide, while the gallery, SKU and selected variant provide the remaining evidence needed for an exact match.

Practical use and compatibility

A safe project plan for Estes Celestial Explorer™ Model Rocket Kit #0689 starts with the manufacturer instructions and SKU EST0689. Confirm whether it is a rocket kit, motor, accessory or launch component; then match the exact recommended motor class, recovery setup and field requirements stated for that item.

Do not substitute motor or recovery assumptions from a photograph. Weight, diameter and construction can change the approved configuration.

Where similar listings differ

A dry assembly and parts inventory can reveal missing components before adhesive is mixed. During finishing, keep paint away from mating surfaces and moving recovery parts unless the instructions specifically allow it.

Transport the completed model in a support that protects fins and tubes from bending.

Image-by-image verification

The photographed item is part of the specification. With 3 images indexed, a buyer can compare color, form, labels, contents and visible condition before relying on a shortened title. Save the image that best shows the identifier EST0689.

A disciplined final review

• Use the complete name, not a shortened marketplace label.
• Use EST0689 to prevent a near-match substitution.
• Read the variant and inventory state shown now.
• Confirm technical requirements from the current manufacturer source.
• Keep the receipt and one reference image with the product record.

Cataloging and project notes

The permanent record should answer three questions: what exact item was bought, what arrived, and how it was used or stored. The title and EST0689 answer the first; arrival photographs answer the second; project or collection notes answer the third.

Keeping those layers separate improves future comparisons and avoids unsupported grading.

Gift considerations

As a gift, Estes Celestial Explorer™ Model Rocket Kit #0689 is strongest when the recipient already uses this scale, format, subject or product family. Check for duplicates and fit-sensitive details before choosing it solely from the brand name.
