AUTOart Porsche 991.2: GT2 RS vs. GT3 RS and Weissach Choices

Choose the GT2 RS or GT3 RS first, then check whether the listing names the Weissach package. In the AUTOart examples below, 78187 is a GT2 RS Weissach in Acid Green; 78179 is a GT3 RS Weissach in Lizard Green; and 78180 is a GT3 RS in Crayon Gray.
All three represent the 991.2 generation at 1:18 scale. “A green Porsche RS” is not precise enough to distinguish the first two.
Compare AUTOart Porsche RS models
GT2 RS and GT3 RS are different subjects
The full-size 991-generation GT2 RS uses a twin-turbo engine, while the GT3 RS uses a naturally aspirated four-liter engine. That helps explain why Porsche collectors distinguish them even when both carry RS badges and prominent rear wings.
For the miniature purchase, match the version you want represented rather than treating real-car performance as a model-quality score. Neither horsepower figures nor a race-inspired name establish better paint, stronger hinges or more opening panels.
78187: GT2 RS Weissach in Acid Green
The AUTOart GT2 RS Weissach, 78187, combines Acid Green with the carbon-stripe treatment named in its listing. Choose it when the turbocharged GT2 RS identity or this specific finish is the goal.
Do not substitute a green GT3 RS for an owner-matching gift. A buyer who requested a GT2 RS is choosing a different version, not simply asking for any 911 with a large wing.
78179 and 78180: two GT3 RS directions
The GT3 RS Weissach in Lizard Green, 78179, specifies a carbon hood and top treatment. It is the option here for the GT3 RS Weissach identity and that contrasting upper-body appearance.
The Crayon Gray GT3 RS, 78180, does not name the Weissach package in its listing. Choose it for that listed version and gray finish, not on an assumption that it has every package detail shown on the green car.
On the full-size GT3 RS, Weissach was an optional weight-reduction package using additional carbon components. On a model listing, the designation identifies the configuration represented. It does not establish that the miniature is lighter or that its wheels are made from the same materials as the full-size car.
Which parts are confirmed to open?
All three Muncle Mikes specifications list an opening front luggage compartment and doors. They also list composite construction, rubber tires, steerable wheels, a roll cage and a carpeted interior.
An opening rear engine cover is not confirmed in these descriptions. Buy for the listed access rather than interpreting a broad phrase such as “fully opening” as proof of another mechanism. A cabin-focused display can still make good use of the opening doors and visible roll-cage detail.
Choose a coordinated pair—or one exact car
For a version comparison, pair GT2 RS 78187 with one GT3 RS. For a GT3 RS-focused collection, 78179 and 78180 give different named specifications and finishes. These are separate models, so the comparison does not imply a two-car bundle.
Each listing gives an approximate size of 9.75 × 4.25 × 2.75 inches. Allow more room for open doors and verify usable case clearance. Keep the scale and generation consistent with the rest of the shelf; a 991.2 is not interchangeable with a later 992-generation model.
Finish the order check with the complete version, package name, paint name and item number. That four-part match is more useful than choosing by the word “Porsche” or by green paint alone.
