Fw 190D-9 vs. Ta 152H Models: Similar Length, Very Different Wings

Choose the Fw 190D-9 for the long-nosed Fw 190 subject, or the Ta 152H when its notably extended wings are the aircraft feature you want to display. Their catalog lengths are fairly close in 1:72, but their required wing clearance is not.

The Ta 152 developed from the Fw 190 family for high-altitude work. That relationship explains the resemblance; it does not make the two names interchangeable when shopping for a miniature.

Compare Fw 190 and Ta 152 models

D-9: the more compact span in this comparison

The DeAgostini DAWF15 is a 1:72 Fw 190D-9 with gray-and-green camouflage and blue 2 markings visible in the photograph. Its listed length is approximately 5.5 inches, with a span roughly six inches for initial planning.

It is the direct choice when the D-9 is specifically requested. The included stand provides a way to display the completed model without creating a separate diorama.

Ta 152H: a wider plan view

The Oxford AC028 Ta 152H-1 is approximately 5.75 inches long with a wingspan around 8 inches in the catalog. Its camouflage, Green 3 and red-and-yellow rear bands distinguish the release.

The red AC096 H-0 offers another Ta 152 choice. Both Oxford models include stands and have a substantially broader listed span than the D-9.

Do not judge this difference from the fuselage alone. A compartment that accepts the D-9's length may still be too narrow for a Ta 152.

What is the collection trying to show?

For a variant-development display, one D-9 and one Ta 152 can provide a meaningful contrast in nose, wing and overall outline. Keep the same scale and similar viewing angles so those differences remain legible.

For a specific-aircraft collection, the exact variant and markings come first. A red H-0 is not a replacement for a requested camouflaged H-1, and neither is the DeAgostini D-9.

For a small shelf, use the actual footprint to shortlist a model before adding a stand or cover to the plan. More wingspan is a space requirement, not an automatic quality advantage.

How to make a useful side-by-side arrangement

Begin with two paper footprints and reserve a gap between the wing tips. The models may be similarly long, but centering their stand bases at equal intervals can still crowd the wider aircraft.

A slightly higher viewing angle highlights the Ta 152's wing shape. A side-biased view better exposes the D-9's elongated nose. Choose an arrangement that does not hide the point of your comparison.

Choose the release before the extras

All three offers are finished models with metal and plastic components and no opening body panels listed. A supplied stand does not establish a common attachment system or a protective case.
