How to Build a Diecast Garage Display with GreenLight Cars and Accessories

A GreenLight garage display can start with one car and a lift or gas pump. Put the car on the shelf first, then see how much space remains around it. That small trial tells you more about the layout than ordering several accessories at once.

Below are two ways to begin: a compact 1:64 service bay and a larger 1:18 workshop. These are layout ideas using separately sold products; the combinations have not been tested for fit.

Shop GreenLight vehicles and garage-display accessories

Start with the display footprint

Measure the shelf’s clear width, depth and height. Try the car straight and at an angle, leaving room for mirrors, ramps and any opening parts you want to show.

Keep the car and accessories in the same scale for a scene that looks in proportion. A 1:18 pump will dwarf a 1:64 car. The scale guide explains the size differences.

Plan A: a compact 1:64 service bay

For a small service bay, compare the 1:64 Milano Red Acura Integra GS-R with the black-and-orange double scissor lift, 16220A. Before putting the Acura on it, check the wheelbase and where the car would contact the platform.

The Series 2 lift measures approximately 2.25 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1.25 inches high in the listing. It is sold as one lift, with no car included.

The scissor lift stays at a fixed height. It gives the scene a raised service bay, but it does not raise or lower like a working jack.

Plan B: a larger 1:18 workshop display

For a larger scene, the blue four-post lift, 12884 has an adjustable platform and adjustable, removable ramps. It is intended for 1:18 displays.

The demonstration car in the lift photo is sold separately. Check the platform dimensions, track spacing and clearance against your chosen vehicle before placing it on the lift.

The Godfather Cadillac is one 1:18 car you might use while planning the space. Its fit on this lift has not been confirmed, so plan to show it beside the lift unless you have checked the measurements.

Add a gas pump with a clear role

The 1948 Wayne 100-A Norwalk Gasoline pump, 14110A, is a yellow-and-black Vintage Gas Pumps Series 11 accessory in 1:18 scale. Its approximate listed dimensions are 1.75 × 1.25 × 3.75 inches.

Try the pump beside the car, where it adds to the setting without hiding the bodywork. Its vintage styling suits a nostalgic garage scene; an accurate recreation of a particular station would need additional research.

Know what each accessory does

Use cases for protection and organization—not assumed compatibility

The 55025-2 acrylic case has a clear cover, black plastic base and stackable design. Its listed dimensions are approximately 4.75 × 2.25 × 1.875 inches, but the listing does not say these are usable interior measurements.

The larger 55028 case measures approximately 13 × 5.75 × 5 inches in the listing and is intended for suitable 1:18–1:24 cars. Check the interior space for your model; adding a lift may make the scene too tall even if the car fits on its own.

Before lowering a cover over the scene, check the tallest point and the space around every accessory. Follow the case’s supplied instructions for stacking and loading.

A simple assembly order

Mark out the base, position the car at the angle you like, then try the lift or pump beside it. Step back to check the view before adding anything else. Leave room to reach the car and open any moving parts, then check the cover clearance.

One car and one accessory are enough for the first arrangement. You can add more once you know what the scene needs.

Common purchasing mistakes to avoid

Before ordering, make a short list of the pieces you are buying separately. Note whether you want a fixed or adjustable lift, and check the case against the whole arrangement rather than the car alone.
