Herpa Special-Livery Widebodies: Lufthansa A350 or Emirates Wimbledon A380?

Herpa Lufthansa 100 Years A350-900 D-AIXL in blue with white crane graphics, shown with its package

Choose Lufthansa's A350-900 for the blue 100 Years design, or Emirates' A380-800 for the Wimbledon partnership graphics and four-engine aircraft shape. Both are 1:500 Herpa models, so they can share a collection scale while offering very different visual centerpieces.

Lufthansa 100 Years: the blue A350

The Lufthansa A350-900, HE539012, identifies D-AIXL. The product image shows a blue aircraft with large white crane graphics and the commemorative 100 Years presentation.

This is the relevant purchase for that design, not a standard white-bodied Lufthansa A350. A collector following anniversary schemes may care about the exact registration as well as the airline name, so keep D-AIXL with the product code.

The large artwork makes the viewing angle worth planning. A slightly elevated side view can reveal more of the fuselage design than placing the model nose-first at the back of a crowded shelf.

Emirates Wimbledon: an A380 with a sporting connection

The Emirates A380-800, HE538664, identifies A6-EOE and the Wimbledon Official Partner release. Its gallery shows green-and-purple partnership artwork on the rear fuselage and the familiar multicolor tail.

Choose it for an Emirates collection, the A380 subject or the specific Wimbledon association. A generic Emirates A380 in another offer need not have this artwork or registration.

The themed retail package is shown above a loose view of the aircraft. That is one aircraft presented two ways, not a two-model set. The package artwork is part of the retail presentation, not a separate framed print or additional souvenir.

Plan around the A380's wings

The Lufthansa model is listed at approximately 5.25 inches long; the Emirates A380 at approximately 5.75 inches. Length alone makes the difference look small, but it does not capture their complete footprints.

The A380's listed wingspan is approximately 6.25 inches. Check the full wingspan of each exact model before buying a case, particularly when it will sit beside other widebodies. Catalog dimensions are estimates, not a guarantee that a nominal six-inch compartment will fit.

For a paired display, sketch both outlines and allow space between the wingtips. Sharing a scale supports consistent proportions, but it does not make the two aircraft the same size.

Display features and limitations

Both listings describe diecast metal with plastic components and no opening panels. Neither includes a stand. Choose them as finished collectible aircraft rather than assembly kits or models with promised working cabin doors.

A separate elevated support needs a confirmed fit. A broad-wing A380 and a twin-engine A350 should not be assumed to use an identical mounting arrangement simply because the brand and scale agree.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Lufthansa release when the anniversary artwork is the reason for the purchase. Choose the Emirates model when the A380 or Wimbledon connection matters more. For a special-livery collection, the pair provides intentional differences in both aircraft and decoration.

Compare the current product offers after settling those preferences. An anniversary or partnership label identifies the design; it is not proof of investment value, impending scarcity or a guaranteed future resale price.
