M2 Machines Model Kits: Choosing Releases 80, 81, 82 and 88

Choose an M2 model-kit set when you want partially disassembled diecast models to build, not simply finished cars to unpack. The four offers below each contain three 1:64 kits, individually blister-packed with an Auto-Lift for each model.

The most useful choice is the vehicle lineup: Release 80 mixes a Bel Air, Dodge van and Beetle; 81 combines a Mustang, Grand National and Microbus; 82 adds a Skyline between two pickups; and 88 is entirely pickup trucks.

Release 80: Bel Air, Gulf Dodge van and Mooneyes Beetle

Release 80, item 37000-80, includes a green-and-black 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop Custom, blue-and-orange Gulf Oil 1967 Dodge A100 Panel Van with white roof, and purple metallic Mooneyes 1953 Volkswagen Beetle Deluxe USA Model.

Choose it for three very different body shapes or for the Gulf van and Mooneyes Beetle combination. These are named models within one three-kit purchase, not selectable alternatives supplied one at a time.

Release 81: Mustang, Grand National and Microbus

Release 81, item 37000-81, supplies a black metallic 1988 Mustang GT with stripes, dark-green metallic 1987 Buick Grand National Custom, and black-and-white 1958 Volkswagen Microbus 15 Window USA Model.

This is a useful starting point when the Mustang and Buick are the reason for collecting. The included Microbus adds another format to build, rather than a third similar American-car body.

Release 82: a Skyline plus Volkswagen and GMC pickups

Release 82, item 37000-82, contains a black-and-white 1960 Volkswagen Single Cab pickup, red right-hand-drive 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R with black stripes, and light-green 1976 GMC Sierra Grande 15 Desert Fox pickup.

Choose it when you want that earlier Skyline subject rather than a later R34 or R35. The two pickups make this a mixed-vehicle building set, not a Nissan-only assortment.

Release 88: three pickup builds

Release 88, item 37000-88, includes an orange 1990 Chevrolet C1500 SS 454 with graphics, light-blue-and-off-white 1985 Toyota SR5 with orange interior, and blue-and-yellow 1967 Mercury M-100 4x4 with Spam graphics.

What to expect before opening the kits

The listings describe partially disassembled models with metal bodies and chassis, rubber tires and Auto-Lifts. They do not establish a universal parts count, build time, included screwdriver or number of extra wheel sets. Read the supplied instructions and exact contents rather than borrowing accessory claims from another M2 release.

Work with one kit at a time and keep its parts together. Check age guidance before choosing one as a gift. These small-scale diecast kits are different products from larger plastic assembly kits or Muncle Mikes Hot Wheels DIY kits.

Can the lifts support other cars?

The verified inclusion is an Auto-Lift accompanying each kit. Universal compatibility with other brands, wheelbases, track widths or chassis is not specified. Use the supplied model first; do not assume every 1:64 car will fit securely simply because the scale label matches.

The approximate 2.5–3.5-inch vehicle lengths also do not give the assembled lift's full footprint or height. Allow room for the complete display, including the support structure.
