Aw Shoot and Shell ShockerOlive and tan Action Command versions
Shell Shocker is the later name for Aw Shoot, the open-topped tracked artillery vehicle. The long barrel and upright side shields are better starting points than a listing that calls every military toy a tank. Olive and tan examples need their front markings compared as well as their color.
Olive: the 53571 decoration
The olive reference has a beige star and 53571 on the sloping front. The 1986 Action Command entry uses item 2518. A later olive five-pack release is also recorded with this decoration, so a loose example alone does not establish which package it came from.
Tan: compare the white markings
The tan photograph shows a white star and 623385. Both reference catalogs list a tan 2518 for 1987. Save an original package photograph when assigning a particular year; matching color and markings identifies the appearance more securely than it dates an unboxed toy.
The earlier Aw Shoot
The original Aw Shoot entry is from 1976, item 9243, in Flying Colors. It is olive with white front markings and a Hong Kong base entry. That earlier name belongs to this casting family, but its release details should not be copied onto every later Shell Shocker.
Check the barrel before the paint
Look closely at the barrel tip, the mount and both thin side shields. A side view can hide a split or missing piece on the far side. Check the underside too: the molded track pattern is not a complete view of the toy’s running gear.
Ask about repairs before trying to move the gun. A glued mount can look tidy from above. The loose-car inspection checklist helps keep completeness, repair work and cosmetic wear in separate notes.
