Blue stripes and the black Park ’n Plates car

The 1983 blue Classic Cobra has white stripes and an unpainted Hong Kong base. Blackwalls and gray-hub Real Riders are documented. The black 1989 Park ’n Plates car instead carries warm-colored graphics and Cobra hood lettering with blackwalls.

Look at all four wheels. A rubber-tire conversion can make a satisfying custom, but it changes the identification of an otherwise familiar car.

California Customs need a complete match

The documented 1990 white number-7 California Custom uses red-and-black striping. Its Cal Customs lettering and wheel combinations vary.

Match the full car and readable package before accepting an exact edition. A hood-color claim copied from an old listing is not enough. Keep disassembly, transferred parts and repainting in the description when their history is known.

Three different 1995 comparisons

The red collector-number-31 car has several base and wheel combinations. The yellow Roarin’ Rods number 305 uses a gray crisscross pattern. The pictured green Treasure Hunt number 363 has gold stripes, a tan interior, an unpainted Malaysia base and gold six-spoke wheels.

Those releases should not share a generic color list. Yellow retail cars and claims about orange prototypes need separate evidence; an unusual finish alone does not authenticate a prototype.

Inspect the windshield rim, exposed cabin and side pipes for damage. Check the edge of each stripe for rubbing or touch-ups, and use a second viewing angle when reflections hide scratches.
