Firebird Funny Car (1982)The 1995 series release
The blue 1995 Side-Splitter wears a large Hot Wheels side logo and number 1 race decoration. It belongs to the original Firebird Funny Car casting family; the Side-Splitter name alone is not enough to identify every later car that used it.
Race Team number 3 of four
Collector #277, item 12795, is the third release in the 1995 Race Team series. The catalog records blue and light-blue metallic finishes, red-and-yellow Hot Wheels logos, number 1 and race decoration, clear glazing and an unpainted Malaysia base.
Blackwall and five-spoke versions are documented. The pictured carded example has five-spoke wheels. Lighting can shift the blue finish toward purple, so compare color under consistent light.
Look beyond the side logo
Inspect the narrow nose, rear wing and wheel openings for chips or cracks. Ask for a rear view and an overhead image; the display side leaves the far edge of the body unseen.
Check the body-to-chassis fit and any hinge area for repairs without forcing movement. Record replaced wheels, bent axles and repainting separately from the release identity.
A shared name can hide a different casting
Side-Splitter has also been used for other funny-car releases. Match the body shape and underside before transferring identification details from another year. This guide covers the 1982 Firebird Funny Car family and its 1995 Race Team edition.
Use the loose-car checklist when packaging is absent. A familiar logo does not establish an untouched factory configuration.
