Rolls-Royce Phantom IIMatch the roof, wheels and country mark

The light-blue Phantom II with its tan roof makes an appealing classic-car display. That combination also appears across several releases, so a loose car may tell you its configuration without proving the year of its original package.

The blue-and-tan combination spans several years

The 1984 metallic light-blue Phantom II has a tan roof, black interior and unpainted Malaysia base, with blackwalls or whitewalls recorded. Similar whitewall cars appear in 1987 and 1989, and as collector number 50 in 1990.

For an exact-year collection, ask for readable original packaging. A card sitting beside a loose car is useful context, but it does not establish that they left the factory together.

Check country markings and body parts together

French gray and metallic-silver releases are documented in 1985, along with an Italian light-blue entry in 1986.

Photograph the complete base inscription, roof, fenders and wheels. A replacement roof can make a display look complete while changing the originality of the car. Ask about repairs and transferred parts before interpreting an unusual color combination as a factory variation.

Look along the long hood and both fender edges for chips or glue. Use a second angle around the grille, where glare can hide small damage. Do not flex old parts to test how firmly they are attached.

The dark-red Treasure Hunt

The pictured 1995 Treasure Hunt number 360 has metallic dark-red paint, a red interior, red-and-white rear logo, an unpainted Malaysia base and red six-spoke wheels. The gold-plated FAO Schwarz set car is another distinct release.

Keep these versions separate when comparing prices and condition. The Rolls-Royce name alone is not evidence of rarity, and an old catalog price is not a current sale.

For another long classic, compare the ’31 Doozie guide. In current loose-car offers, check whether the photographs show every included part and whether any restoration is disclosed.
