S’Cool BusLook beneath the lifting body
A closed S’Cool Bus can hide the small parts that matter most to a collector. The body prop and engine intake deserve their own photographs. A bus can look complete on a shelf while carrying replacement pieces underneath.
The yellow bus and its small plastic parts
The original Hong Kong S’Cool Bus is documented under 1971 in yellow and pale yellow. Its black interior is integrated with the body prop, and the engines have an orange plastic intake scoop. Both components have been reproduced.
Ask to see the body closed and gently raised when its condition permits. Check the prop, pivots and intake edges for cracks, glue or missing sections. Record a replacement part as a replacement even when it completes the display.
Sticker placement and base text need context
The early stickers came on a sheet for the buyer to apply. Different placement therefore does not automatically mean a factory printing error.
Bases with and without Heavyweights wording are documented. The preproduction explanation for missing wording is a collector interpretation, not an automatic authentication of an individual bus.
Keep the full inscription, component condition and any known restoration together. A seller’s later-year label needs release or packaging evidence; it does not change the documented 1971 introduction.
The purple bus belongs to a later series
The 2009 sELECTIONs example pictured here has purple Spectraflame paint, flame decoration, a black interior and a chrome metal China base. Its body can be supported open by a bar attached to the base.
Keep that collector edition separate from the original yellow bus when comparing parts, condition and packaging. Do not force an older prop to imitate another version’s movement.
