Tank TruckA red cab and a silver Unocal tank
On the Unocal Tank Truck, red describes the cab and chassis area; the tank itself is silver chrome. The seven-spoke wheels in this picture help separate the mid-1990s version from the earlier blackwall truck. The large tank lettering is useful, but it is not the only detail to compare.
Two red #147 wheel versions
The 1992 #147, item 2076, has a red cab, chrome tank, Unocal 76 graphics, chrome-colored windows, red Malaysia base and blackwall wheels. The similar 1995 entry changes to seven-spoke wheels. Orange-cab #147 trucks appear later with their own wheel combinations.
Read the item number and decoration together. A red cab on a Toxic Waste set truck, for example, does not establish the Unocal release. Likewise, do not transfer the history of the older Peterbilt tanker simply because a listing calls both vehicles tank trucks.
Photo Finish is light blue
The 1995 Photo Finish #333, item 13320, has a light-blue cab, Mount Rushmore imagery, chrome Malaysia base and seven-spoke wheels. It is number 3 of four in that series.
The pictured truck makes the difference clear: the cab is blue, while the pale tank carries the scenic panel. There is no basis here for a supposed white-cab chase version or a list of Ultra Hots variants.
Check the tank in soft light
Ask for both tank sides and the top. Plating scratches and worn lettering can disappear in a bright reflection, so another angle is often more useful than a larger version of the same photograph. On Photo Finish, check the entire image panel for rubbing.
Look at the tank supports and the cab separately for glue or replacement parts. Compare all three axles, then inspect the underside. A shiny tank fitted to a worn truck is a reason to ask about its history, not proof of a factory variation.
For carded examples, inspect the blister around the tall tank and confirm the pictured package is included. Use the inspection checklist when comparing loose trucks, with condition and package format matched before researching prices.
