PineCar P4612 Axle Shaper is a two-piece metal tool for preparing nail-type pinewood derby axles. Manufactured by Derby Worx for PineCar, it supports straightening and rounding the shaft, squaring the head and beveling its edge.

Features and contents

  • Two mating metal blocks hold and guide the axle during shaping.
  • The flat-side opening is used for shaft shaping and squaring the axle head to the shaft centerline.
  • The beveled opening is used to chamfer the axle head; check race rules before making this modification.
  • Use with a separately supplied hammer, permanent marker and protective scrap-wood work surface.
  • Remove burrs and crimp marks before shaping, then polish the axles afterward as directed.
