1994 Hot Wheels Countach Red GUH: Identification & Buyer Guide

The red Countach with gold Ultra Hots
The 1994 Hot Wheels Lamborghini Countach Red GUH is the Gold Medal Speed version of collector #232, item 13577. Gold-colored Ultra Hots, tan interior and the decorated red body distinguish this reference from a generic red Countach. [1]

Use the original specification to identify a vintage purchase, then compare the separate modern Countach offers below. A similar color is not the same release.

Specification: South Texas Diecast’s release record. Its historical prices are not used here as current valuations. [1]
For a loose example, request clear side and underside photographs. For a packaged car, include the full card and item number. Do not substitute a dark-looking interior or a reflection off a wheel for a readable view of the actual part.
What GUH means—and what it does not mean
UH is the collector abbreviation for the Ultra Hots wheel design. The gold prefix describes its finish in this release; it is not a separate casting name. Compare the wheel face itself, not just the color. The wheel-reference guide shows Ultra Hots separately from five-spoke, wire-spoke and other designs. [2]
GUH does not, by itself, establish rarity, production quantity or a guaranteed price premium. Nor does a modern custom with gold wheels become a Gold Medal Speed car. Ask whether wheels or axles have been changed, and compare all four wheels rather than one flattering photograph.
Similar Countachs worth separating
The catalog’s 1993 red #232 uses ordinary Ultra Hots. The orange 1996 Treasure Hunt is #429, a different release. Later LP5000 QV and modern LPI 800-4 products should also be identified by their own names. [1] Keep each release in its own collection record.

These catalog offers are later factory Hot Wheels models, not the 1994 gold-Ultra-Hots variant. Choose a single red Countach or a two-car set. Product pages show the current price, availability and supplied packaging.

Jay Leno’s Garage Countach
Hot Wheels HCK09 is a red LP 5000 QV with rubber tires in blister packaging. It is a single car with no opening panels.

What to inspect before buying
The pointed body and rear detail
Request views of the nose, roof, side intakes and rear wing area. Check for paint chips, bends, glue, touch-ups and missing components. Assess the model as shown rather than relying on “mint” without close photographs. For an online purchase, ask about an unclear defect before placing the order.
The gold finish and factory assembly
Look for uneven wheel finish, bent axles and signs that the base has been opened. Ask the seller to disclose replacements or restoration. Uniform-looking gold paint is not proof of original wheels, and wear should not be reclassified as a newly discovered variation without evidence.
The card and blister
Check the hanger, corners, printing and blister edges. Separate damage to the packaging from damage to the car, and compare a carded purchase with similarly packaged examples. Keep the photographs and seller’s description with your collection notes.
Value: match the variation before comparing sales
Use completed sales of the same release, wheel style and condition. Record whether the price included shipping and whether the sale was for one car or a lot. A current asking price is not a completed sale, and a vintage guide’s printed figures do not establish today’s market.
There is no supported blanket rule here that GUH is always worth more than UH, or that five-spoke cars automatically command the highest price. Decide which version you want, then judge the evidence for that specific purchase.
Prefer a custom instead?
Choose finished custom Hot Wheels with rubber tires for a personalized display, or start with a DIY Hot Wheels kit. A custom is an intentionally modified product, not a factory wheel variation. Select wheels and tires only after checking the chosen donor’s measurements.
Collector questions
What is the collector number?
The red 1994 Gold Medal Speed Countach is #232, item 13577. Match both numbers with its wheel and decoration details. [1]
Does GUH mean rubber tires?
No. It identifies the gold Ultra Hots wheel treatment, not a guarantee of rubber tires. The later shopping offers on this page have their own listed tire specifications.
Should this version have a black interior?
The reference specification is tan with a dark tinted window. Ask for a clear view rather than assuming a dark photograph proves a black interior. [1]
Is the red Jay Leno’s Garage Countach the same car?
No. HCK09 is a separate LP 5000 QV product. The shopping card identifies it as a later alternative, not the vintage #232.
Is a gold-wheel custom a rare factory variant?
Not simply because the wheels are gold. Confirm the factory release and whether the car has been altered. An aftermarket custom should be sold as a custom.
Where can I check the exact vintage version?

Make the Hot Wheels Countach Red GUH record reproducible
For this article, verify the red Countach GUH through collector number, series context, interior, base and wheel treatment. Use a fixed photo order—front or package, both sides, wheels and underside—so two examples can be compared without relying on seller shorthand.
Modern Countach products are separate display choices, not identification evidence. Record uncertainty directly rather than converting a partial match into a factory, rarity or value claim.
