Matchbox Taxis: LEVC TX vs. the Blue Checker Cab

A Matchbox taxi collection can begin with two very different offers: a black LEVC TX Taxi and a blue Checker Cab with Lion and Boy To The Rescue graphics. Choose the car whose represented vehicle and decoration fit your shelf. Do not assume every cab miniature is interchangeable in scale, release history or display role.
Read the two offers separately
| Detail | LEVC TX | Checker Cab |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog finish | Black | Blue, themed graphics |
| Format | Loose; no original card or packaging | Loose photographed car |
| Scale evidence | No scale stated in the retrieved description | Description identifies 1:62 |
| Condition evidence | Review actual photos | Older played-with example; inspect gallery |
| Release evidence | Not established by color alone | Listing identifies a 2003 release; verify when cataloging |
The Checker offer's description is more useful than treating every number in an old URL as authoritative. Use the current title, description, photographs and any readable scale markings together. This guide does not establish rarity merely because a sales title uses that word.

Choose a taxi display or a decoration display
The black LEVC TX can work in a modern taxi-themed row. The blue Checker adds a contrasting vehicle shape and a distinct graphic theme. If your aim is a realistic city scene, decide whether the blue graphics belong in the story you want to tell. If your aim is collecting unusual decorations, those graphics may be the main reason to choose it.
Neither choice needs to be justified by an investment claim. A model can be appealing because of its shape, finish or theme. Unsupported rarity language should not replace inspection of the actual car or comparison with documented examples.

Scale and fit deserve separate attention
The Checker description states 1:62. Do not silently relabel it 1:64 because that is a familiar diecast scale. For the LEVC, use a reliably stated scale if available or measure the model when selecting scenery. A small numerical difference may matter less in a casual shelf display than in a tightly planned layout, but it should still be recorded accurately.
Check model length, width and height before placing either cab in a marked parking bay or enclosed carrier. A tall roofline can create a fit issue even when the wheels sit within the available floor area. Leave room to insert and remove the model without contact.
Inspect the details that carry the identity
Review the roof, window area, both sides and visible front and rear. On the blue Checker, inspect the themed printing closely. On the black LEVC, compare multiple angles so reflections do not conceal surface wear. Check wheels and stance, while keeping rolling performance separate from the photo-based inspection.
Record the full named vehicle, finish, packaging status and any stated scale in your collection notes. For release identification, add readable base evidence rather than assuming that another seller's cab of the same color is the same edition. The casting-revision checklist helps organize that evidence.
