Flame StopperUnit 31 across different releases
Flame Stopper’s red body is easy to recognize, but the number 31 does not pin it to one year. The example shown here is on a collector #761 card with a long gray boom above the cab. Its later graphics and wheels need to be kept separate from the original Workhorses release.
The 1988 Workhorses combination
Item 5027 is red with yellow-and-white Fire Dept and Unit 31 decoration, black windows and a red Malaysia base. CT and ORCT wheel configurations are documented. A related red truck in the 1994 Blimp & Support Team five-pack uses yellow wheel hubs.
That makes the wheels and underside as useful as the side lettering. Photograph all wheel faces and the base before assigning a loose Unit 31 truck to a particular package.
The later red carded truck
The pictured #761 is the later red version with gold, white and black decoration and a black Malaysia base. A similar release appears in the 1997 Fire Fighting five-pack.
Keep the full package or set claim with the vehicle. A single loose truck does not include the rest of a support set, and a detached card does not prove an original pairing.
Inspect the long boom from both sides
Get an overhead photograph with the complete boom in frame, then look closely at its ends and attachment points. Missing projections and glue may be hidden behind the cab in a side view.
Ask whether its intended movement works without forcing anything. An unsupported claim about an extending tailgate is no reason to pull on the body. Check the lower edges and wheel alignment separately from the equipment above the cab.
Read Fire Dept and the number on both sides for rubbing or replacement decoration. The used-car checklist helps record those details before comparing loose emergency vehicles.
