Splittin’ Image IIThe 1995 Dark Rider release
Two bright cockpit covers stand out against the black Dark Rider body. Splittin’ Image II keeps the divided layout suggested by its name, but it is a separate casting from the original Splittin’ Image.
Number 1 of four
The 1995 Dark Rider is collector #297, item 13284. The catalog specifies metallic-black paint, chrome-colored windows, a red Hot Wheels logo on top of the right front fender and a black Malaysia base.
Six-spoke Pro Circuit and seven-spoke wheel entries are documented. Get a sharp side view before deciding which is fitted to a loose example; the small package photograph is not enough for a fine variation call.
Inspect both cockpit covers
Check each bright cover for scratched plating or rubbed edges. One clean side can hide damage on the other. Photograph the center channel and exposed details from above, then check the nose and rear corners.
The original Splittin’ Image guide covers a different casting. Its release history should not be applied to this second design.
Keep the car and package evidence together
A Dark Rider card identifies the series presentation. On a loose car, record the actual wheels and underside and disclose any swaps or repairs. A dark finish alone does not establish the release or its originality.
Use the loose-car checklist to keep those observations with the photographs.
