How to Build a 1:64 Diecast Diorama: Cars, Figures and Accessories

Sketch the scene on the base

Mark out the road, parking spaces or workshop floor and try the cars in position. Keep the first layout small enough that you can see how each part connects to the next.

Check scale beside the cars

Set a figure and any building pieces next to a vehicle before committing to the layout. Accessories sold as 1:64 are the starting point; seeing them together is the useful check.

Place cars first, then people and equipment

Once the vehicles are where you want them, add the figures and props around the activity. Leave space where a person would walk or a car would enter the scene.

Step back before adding more

View the layout from its usual shelf or camera angle. If a figure hides a car or a prop blocks the view, move it. A stretch of empty pavement can make the rest of the scene easier to see.
