Lotus Type 49 Collector Guide
The exposed engine and tiny driver are what make this Lotus fun to study. The two green cars look close at first glance, but their numbers and driver colors differ. Red and bare-metal versions add another pair, carrying ’68 Lotus Type 49 on their cards.

What to look for
The 2024 releases use the ’67 name: HRY76 is the green number 5 with a white driver, and HTD99 is the green number 4 with a dark driver. The 2025 red HYX18 and Kroger-exclusive HYY17 use the ’68 card name. They are grouped here as the same Hot Wheels casting family.

Choosing one for your collection
Look at the driver and nose number before relying on the body color. The engine and four exposed wheels also deserve a close look on a loose model.
Check that the front wheels sit evenly and that the narrow nose has no chips. The open-wheel shape leaves more small edges exposed than a normal coupe.

Why do the cards say both ’67 and ’68?
The 2024 cards use ’67 Lotus Type 49; the 2025 releases use ’68 Lotus Type 49. This guide keeps the related releases together while preserving the names on their packages.
