Casting, release, and physical example

A casting is the model family. A release is one manufactured version. The physical example is the loose or packaged item in front of you. A correct value check moves from casting to exact release and then accounts for condition.

Identification sequence

  1. Identify the casting shape and molded features.
  2. Inspect every visible base marking.
  3. Match color, wheels, tampo, interior, windows, base, packaging, year, series, and part number.
  4. Separate repeatable documented variations from normal production tolerance or one-off defects.
  5. Record loose or packaged condition.
  6. Compare only exact completed sales.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the base copyright year as the release year.
  • Using a casting-family image as exact-release proof.
  • Ignoring wheel, base, or packaging differences.
  • Confusing asking prices with completed sales.
  • Applying the most expensive known variation to a common release.
