Odd RodThe yellow dragster crosses the wheel change
Odd Rod’s long nose and tiny cockpit make it easy to recognize. Dating a loose yellow one takes more care: the same basic decoration appears on redline and blackwall versions, and the later Drag Strippers package supplies information the car alone cannot.
Yellow and plum appear in the 1977 record
The 1977 Flying Colors Odd Rod is documented in yellow and plum, with flame decoration on the nose, clear glazing and an unpainted Hong Kong base. Both redline and blackwall versions are recorded.
The interior is part of the base. Do not mistake its bare-metal appearance for a missing plastic insert. Check the little screen and exposed engine for damage without lifting the car by either part.
The package helps with the yellow blackwall car
The 1978 Drag Strippers listing retains the yellow finish and nose flames with blackwalls. That is the presentation shown here.
A loose yellow blackwall needs more than a color match to assign it to a particular package year. If the card survives, photograph its front and back and note whether the car is still sealed or merely displayed beside it.
Later bases deserve a separate check
Later yellow blackwalls are listed for Mexico and France. Leo production in India is also documented, with some examples lacking a country mark on the base.
Missing country lettering does not by itself prove a Leo example. Compare the entire assembly and keep any unresolved origin in the record.
