VampyraPurple wings do not identify just one release
Vampyra’s bat-shaped wings make it easy to recognize, but purple paint covers several different releases. Look at the wing decoration, eyes and wheels together. A later Hot Hubs or Color Shifter should not inherit the early Speed Demons description just because its body is purple.
The early purple bat
The 1986 Speed Demons item 2060 is purple with white, orange and red decoration and Ultra Hots wheels. Hong Kong and Malaysia entries are recorded. Purple #8 appears later with an unpainted Malaysia base.
The existing year labels on a loose-car listing are not proof of its original package. For an exact-year collection, ask for the full card and its identifiers. Otherwise, describe the configuration you can actually see.
Black #166 and purple Hot Hubs are different
The 1992 black #166 has purple, green and yellow side printing, gold-chrome interior detail and an unpainted Malaysia base. Blackwall, Ultra Hots and chrome Hot Ones wheel entries are listed. A 1995 black #166 is recorded without side printing.
The 1995 Hot Hubs #308 is purple with yellow-and-red eyes, a gold side logo and gold-chrome interior detail. Black and metalflake-black Malaysia bases and green Pro-Circuit, green Hot Hubs or five-spoke wheel entries are documented.
Compare the entire wheel face instead of relying on its color. Ask about wheel swaps and opened fasteners. Missing printing can also be wear or alteration, so check the finish before assigning a factory-variation label.

The 2010 Color Shifters Creatures entry is purple/blue with side logos, an unpainted Thailand base and red five-spoke wheels.
The package identifies this later color-changing release. It does not establish that an early purple Vampyra changes color. If the feature matters, ask for a demonstration using the correct package directions; a static photograph cannot prove that an individual toy still responds normally.
Check both wing edges
An overhead photograph should include both wings and the complete face. Look for chipped tips, cracks and adhesive around projecting details. Compare the two printed patterns for rubbing or touch-ups.
Inspect the exposed engine finish and every wheel, then look underneath for repair work. A damaged or customized example can still suit a display when its description is clear. For another creature casting, compare the Fangster guide or Ratmobile guide.
