Hot Wheels ’67 Camaro (Hall of Fame C3638): Casting Info & Complete Collector’s Guide

Black body · Red interior · Top 10 tin set

The Hall of Fame Top 10 set includes a plain black ’67 Camaro with a red interior and redline Real Riders. Its restrained finish leaves the coupe’s body shape visible, while the ten-car tin provides the release identity: C3638.

Casting Info

A plain finish, red cabin and redline tires identify this set release.

The black Camaro from the Hall of Fame Top 10 set

C3638 is the reference for a ten-vehicle Hall of Fame assortment presented in a collectible tin. The Camaro has a black body without racing stripes or sponsor graphics, a red interior and clear windows. Its bright wheel faces sit inside redline tires.

This is a different Hall of Fame Camaro from the white Bill Jenkins “Grumpy’s Toy” Milestone Moments release. That car has racing graphics and number 777; the Top 10 Camaro is plain black.

Date note: Collector catalogs disagree. The Hot Wheels Newsletter lists this C3638 release under 2003, while South Texas Diecast lists it as the 2004 Target Hall of Fame set. The photographed package carries copyright 2003. That copyright alone does not settle the retail release year, so both catalog dates are retained here.

Variation Summary

Black paint alone is not enough to identify this Camaro.

Match the complete combination

Feature C3638 reference
Body Plain black without printed stripes or logos
Interior and windows Red cabin beneath clear glazing
Wheels Bright recessed faces with redline tires
Underside Unpainted metal marked China
Original packaging Hall of Fame Top 10 tin, C3638-0970

A black Camaro with gold wheels, white stripes or different interior colors should not be assigned to this release simply because the body color matches. For a loose example, compare all visible features and inspect the base.

The reference gallery includes separate loose and packaged specimens. The loose car supplies the close identification views; the tin photographs document the assortment and package markings.

Physical Details

The close photographs show the body, wheel faces and actual base markings.

Red interior, clear windows and treaded redline tires

The top view shows the black hood, roof and trunk without printed decoration. Red seats and interior surfaces are visible through the clear glazing. The hood is closed in these photographs, so the engine finish is not documented.

The underside photograph shows tread on the tires, the metal base, the molded name “1967 Camaro,” China and copyright 1982. A separate ink marking reads 2453 EA on this example. It is not presented as a limited-edition serial number or decoded as an exact production date.

The older 1982 copyright belongs to the casting and must not be used to date this Hall of Fame release. Inspect the black paint for scratches and chips around the hood, roof edges and wheel arches. Check the red tire rings, wheel-face finish, glazing and original rivets independently when assessing a loose car.

Packaging Details

The Camaro is one of ten vehicles in the photographed assortment.

The Top 10 tin and C3638-0970 label

The tin uses Hall of Fame branding and “Our All-Time Top 10 Favorite Vehicles” lettering. Its lid carries a large wheel illustration. In the vehicle display, the Camaro is in the left column immediately below Rodger Dodger, with its own ’67 Camaro label.

The other labeled models are Dairy Delivery, Rodger Dodger, ’67 Pontiac GTO, Old Number 5, ’56 Ford, ’57 Chevy, Volkswagen Beetle, Scorchin’ Scooter and Purple Passion. A loose Camaro does not constitute the complete set.

The side label identifies C3638-0970, copyright 2003 and Made in China. The package reference applies to the set. Check the lid, tray, all ten vehicles, labels and any remaining outer wrapping when evaluating completeness; the gallery records the condition of one example and does not establish that another tin is factory sealed.

Buying & Value — Collector Reference

Separate the loose Camaro from the complete set

Compare completed sales for the same black Camaro with red interior and redline Real Riders. Keep loose cars, incomplete tins and complete ten-car sets in separate comparisons. Record paint wear, wheel and tire condition, glazing scratches and evidence of alteration.

For a full set, verify every model and inspect the tin for dents, rust, missing inserts and damaged wrapping. A seller’s year or “sealed” description is not a substitute for photographs. No current price range or unsupported rarity claim is assigned here.

Hall of Fame Camaro — Collector FAQs

Collector FAQs

Is this a 2003 or 2004 release?

Catalogs disagree: the Newsletter lists 2003 and South Texas Diecast lists 2004. The photographed package has a 2003 copyright. This guide preserves that distinction.

Why does the car’s base say 1982?

That is an older casting copyright, not the year this black Hall of Fame version was released.

Is C3638 the Camaro’s serial number?

No. It identifies the Top 10 set. The package carries the longer reference C3638-0970.

Does 2453 EA indicate a numbered limited edition?

No such claim is established. It is the ink marking visible on the photographed car’s base.

Are the loose car and the tin the same specimen?

No. They were photographed separately and are shown together as casting and packaging references.

Is this the Bill Jenkins Hall of Fame Camaro?

No. The Bill Jenkins version is white with Grumpy’s Toy racing decoration. This Top 10 version is plain black with a red interior.
