Light My FirebirdThe open cabin leaves little damage hidden

Light My Firebird puts its engine and cabin on display. There is no ordinary hood to lift and no roof to hide the seats. That makes the windshield, interior and exposed engine the natural places to start an inspection.

A factory Spoilers Firebird

The Hong Kong-made Light My Firebird arrived in the 1970 Spoilers group, adapted from the earlier Custom Firebird. It carries an exposed blown V8, with a front air dam and rear spoiler formed as part of the base.

Light and dark interiors are documented. Both bearing-style and capped wheels appear in the reference. The exposed axle connections provide another reason to include a complete underside photograph.

The windshield and cabin need close views

Look at the windshield edge and where it meets the body. A small crack or glued repair can be hard to distinguish from a reflection, so ask for another angle if needed.

Photograph the seats and steering-wheel area from above. Keep a damaged interior separate from its color description. Do not lift the car by the windshield or press against it to hold the model in place.

Follow the stripe along the side

The roundels and white rocker-panel stripe were factory applied. Sponsor logos were supplied on a separate decal sheet. Worn factory markings, later decals and replacement graphics should not all be described as the same condition.

A low side view helps reveal the stripe, while front and rear views show the full base extensions. Look for a missing edge or repaired corner before calling the car complete.

For a closed-roof companion, see the TNT-Bird guide. The two castings share the Spoilers idea but have different body and cabin details.
