Show Hoss IIA different name on the green car
A green Show Hoss II can surprise you with Mustang II lettering on the side. That is a useful detail, not a reason to assume the package and car are unrelated. The green and yellow cars use different graphic schemes on the same casting.
The yellow Flying Colors release
The 1977 yellow Show Hoss II has dark-red, white and black racing decoration, including the Show Hoss II name and a horse motif. The reference lists an unpainted Hong Kong base with redline or blackwall wheels.
Ask for a view across the hood as well as both sides. An oblique front picture can hide worn graphic edges and make a partly missing design look complete.
Why the green car says Mustang II
The 1979 Drag Strippers listing describes green paint with blue, white and black decoration, Mustang II lettering, a black interior and blackwall wheels. A yellow Drag Strippers version is documented too.
The photograph shows the green presentation. Keep the body graphics in your notes so that a green car and a yellow one do not end up described as the same variation merely because both were sold as Show Hoss II.
Separate missing paint from missing decoration
Later records include undecorated examples and different country markings. A blank area on an otherwise familiar car still needs inspection: absence of printing can also follow stripping or refinishing.
Check the base wording, wheel faces and edges around the windows. For a Ford collection, compare the Mustang Stocker as a separate casting, rather than applying its details to Show Hoss II.
Current loose-car photographs should show the actual car offered, including the small lettering that makes these versions interesting.
