1960s Fiat 500D Modificado Collector Guide
The Modificado packs a lot into a tiny body: swollen wheel arches, a low stance and an engine hanging out behind the cabin. Line up the white Air-Cooled car, the Gulf version and the seafoam Boulevard release and the changes in wheels and decoration become as interesting as the paint.

What to look for
The yellow Compact Kings car brought this shape into the mainline. Its gold Super Treasure Hunt companion needs a separate comparison: reflective gold paint and rubber tires change more than the color. Later releases range from a plain black National Icons car to Peanuts artwork and checkerboard racing graphics.

Start a condition check at the back. The exposed engine and projecting rear details are vulnerable when loose cars are stored together.
Check all four flared arches for edge chips. On decorated releases, compare both doors; a clean photograph of one side tells you little about the printing on the other.
