2018 Hot Wheels '71 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon FLF36 — Collector Guide

Official Identification

Mattel's customer-service record identifies FLF36 as the '71 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon and explicitly gives release year 2018. The photographed card lists FLF36 separately from assortment FLF35. Neither code is a mainline collector number.

Variation Summary

This factory release has metalflake blue paint, white and red roof/hood stripes, a silver side stripe with Datsun lettering and a 50th anniversary mark near the rear wheel. The series position is 5/10, not a production quantity.

Physical Details

Collector references document an unpainted metal base, clear windows, black interior, chrome four-spoke Real Riders wheels (C4SPRR) and manufacture in Thailand. Mattel confirms full-metal construction and Real Riders tires. The gallery confirms the blue finish, side decoration and chrome wheel faces through the blister; it does not show the underside or a specific base date code.

Packaging Details

Single-car 50th Anniversary Favorites blister card, position 5/10. Photographed multilingual back prints FLF36, separate assortment FLF35, UPC 887961556506 and Made in Thailand; these identify this photographed package, not every regional package. The front card carries the large 50th anniversary logo, Favorites name and Metal/Metal and Real Riders marks. One wagon is included. The other nine vehicles pictured or listed in the series are sold separately.

Casting History

The wagon tooling debuted in the 2013 Boulevard line and is credited to Jun Imai by established collector references. This 2018 anniversary appearance uses that wagon casting. It is distinct from the two-door Datsun 510 sedan and later Bluebird wagon toolings. Smooth and mesh grille treatments are documented across the casting family; this record does not assign an unphotographed grille variation.

Notable Releases

The 2013 Boulevard X8236 release introduced the casting with a different color and decoration. FLF36 commemorates Hot Wheels' 50th anniversary with dedicated premium packaging and anniversary graphics.
