1991 Hot Wheels Porsche 930 Red #148: Blackwall Buyer Guide

1991 Hot Wheels Porsche 930 number 148 in red with Turbo lettering

The red 1991 Hot Wheels Porsche 930 #148 uses a particular side-lettering combination. Match that detail with the original wheels before comparing a loose car with another red Porsche or an aftermarket custom.

Identify the red blackwall version

The Porsche 930 catalog records 1991 item 7607 in red with yellow-and-black stripes, black Turbo text and white Porsche 930 lettering, a black cabin, unpainted Malaysia base and blackwalls.

Check the lettering from both sides

Request images that make the small model name readable. Worn white text can disappear against reflected light. Ask for another angle before calling an apparently missing word an error or an uncommon variation.

Compare the two sides for touch-ups and replacements. A fresh-looking graphic on an otherwise worn body needs a disclosure, not an automatic rarity premium. For the other body color, see our purple #148 identification guide.

Assess the rear body and axles

Look at the wing and surrounding body from directly behind and from above. Check for chips, cracks and repair glue. Photograph the vehicle resting on a flat surface so wheel alignment can be judged without relying on a hand-held angle.

Ask whether the base was opened or wheels and axles were changed. A wheel swap may be a useful display upgrade, but it does not preserve the original factory configuration for a variation collector.

Choose a dedicated Porsche donor

Our 1996 Porsche Carrera DIY kit is a separate ready-to-paint project. Its casting and purpose differ from the vintage 930. Check its component list and supply your chosen finish, tools and custom wheel upgrades separately.

For a completed personalized vehicle, browse custom Hot Wheels. For original factory cars, compare current loose Hot Wheels listings. These links do not guarantee an exact red #148 is in stock.

Buying with or without the card

For packaged cars, inspect the entire front and reverse, card corners, hanger and blister seal. A loose car placed beside a detached card does not establish their original pairing. Keep any uncertainty about package year in the collection record.

For value research, use dated completed sales with equivalent wheels, lettering, condition and packaging. Separate restored or modified vehicles from originals, single cars from lots, and include delivery charges. Do not use an unrelated modern Porsche's price as a vintage appraisal.

Red Porsche questions

Does red paint prove the exact release?

No. Compare lettering, wheels, cabin, base and package evidence together.

Is a Carrera kit the same purchase as a factory 930?

No. It is an unfinished project based on a different casting, clearly separated from the collector reference.

Record white model lettering separately

On the red number 148 subject, photograph the white model-name text as well as black Turbo lettering and yellow-black stripes. These small fields can fade at different rates. Keeping separate observations makes a worn red example easier to compare without silently replacing its missing detail with the yellow text from the purple version.
