1992 Hot Wheels Hiway Hauler Kool-Aid #142: Buyer Guide

The 1992 Hot Wheels Hiway Hauler Kool-Aid #142 combines a red cab, white cargo box and Wacky Warehouse advertising. Identify the full graphics and wheel combination before treating another Kool-Aid truck as the same release.
Identify the red-and-white Kool-Aid #142
The Hiway Hauler release catalog records this 1992 configuration. Keep the collector number, package item and complete artwork together when comparing an offered truck.
| Collector / item | #142 / 3782 |
|---|---|
| Cab / cargo box | Red / white |
| Side graphics | Kool-Aid and Wacky Warehouse advertising in red, blue and yellow |
| Windows | Black |
| Base | Chrome-colored; Malaysia marking |
| Wheels | Blackwalls, abbreviated BW |
Do not combine every Kool-Aid release
The catalog separately lists a 1995 Kool-Aid truck, item 14408, with Pro-Circuit wheels. The purple 1994 Delivery #238 is another different release. Advertising subject, paint and wheel type need to match; a familiar brand on the box is not enough to transfer one truck's date or identity to another.
For an exact-year collection, request the original package front and back. For a loose truck, ask what evidence supports the claimed year and keep your record limited to what can be established. A retailer's old listing title is not a substitute for photographs of the actual vehicle.
Another advertising-themed Hiway Hauler

Beatles Pop Culture Hiway Hauler
An orange Hot Wheels truck with concert-ticket-themed Beatles artwork, item HVJ41. Review the current product gallery for its wheels and packaging. This is a separate modern edition, not a 1992 Kool-Aid example.

Advertising panels and corners
Ask for straight-on photographs of both sides and a roof view. Look for rubbed lettering, scratches, cracked corners or replacement graphics. Tiny text can be blurred in a thumbnail even when the largest logo looks clear. Request an additional close-up instead of assuming the print is complete.
Chassis, wheels and repairs
Check how the cargo box sits on the chassis. Ask about glue, replaced components or an opened base, and inspect every wheel and axle. A leaning box or bent axle should be part of the condition description. An attractive customized truck is different from an untouched promotional collectible.
Loose truck, packaged truck or display custom?
Choose loose when the truck's artwork and condition matter more than its original package. Choose carded when the presentation is part of your goal, then inspect the blister edges, hanger and card independently. A clean truck inside a damaged blister is not an undamaged package.
To compare value, use dated completed sales of the matching release, wheels and condition. Separate individual trucks from sets and include delivery costs. No production count or rarity premium is established merely by calling the artwork promotional; this guide does not turn historical catalog prices into current appraisals.
Build an advertising or service-vehicle shelf
Group trucks by artwork or body type and leave enough room to see both side panels. Our Good Humor Truck guide covers a separate food-service casting. Browse finished custom Hot Wheels for personalized display cars, or DIY Hot Wheels kits for a workbench project. Check the selected listing's casting and inclusions; those categories do not promise this vintage hauler.
Kool-Aid Hiway Hauler questions
Is every Kool-Aid truck the 1992 #142?
No. Compare its cab, cargo box, advertising, wheels and package identifiers with the specific release.
Are rubber tires proof of a rare original #142?
No. Different factory releases and aftermarket wheel swaps can use rubber tires. Identify the complete truck.
Does the Beatles product photo show the Kool-Aid version?
No. It illustrates the separate Pop Culture offer linked beside it.
Read the small Wacky Warehouse print
Compare each cargo-box panel independently instead of treating a recognizable Kool-Aid logo as a complete identification. Small text loss and a leaning cargo box affect different parts of the condition record. The Beatles truck is a separate current advertising design; its gallery is useful for choosing that product, not for authenticating the older Wacky Warehouse release.
| Question | Useful view | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Panel art | Both sides straight on | Full advertising text |
| Box | Roof and rear | Corners and chassis seating |
| Release | Package and wheels | Specific number and configuration |
