Bandai Guide: Model Kits, Figures and Option Parts

Bandai Sgt. Keroro #06 Keroro Gunso Ver.1.5 and Flying Board model kit, reference 1141855

Start with what comes in the box

A Bandai shopping list can lead to a model you assemble, a finished figure you pose, or a parts set that needs another product before it becomes useful. The character name gets you into the right area; the product line and contents tell you what you are buying.

Decide what you want to do with the item first. Are you looking forward to building it, arranging a character display, or changing a model you already own? That answer makes the long names in Bandai listings easier to read.

Use the product line as the first filter

These examples show why a search for one brand can produce very different hobby products. They are a starting point for reading a listing, rather than a complete map of Bandai’s catalog.

Name on the listing Product format Useful next check
Figure-rise Standard Character model kits Confirm the exact kit and its assembly requirements.
S.H.Figuarts Finished action figures Read the included parts and display-base details.
Movie Monster Series Soft vinyl figures Match the creature’s version and the individual item’s specifications.
30MS Option Face Parts Accessory parts Identify the model they are intended to accompany.

You can use the Bandai model kits, figures and accessories collection to browse across those formats. Keep the product type in view as you move between results.

A model kit makes assembly part of the purchase

The word “figure” inside a line name can be misleading if you skim it. Bandai includes Figure-rise Standard in its Kamen Rider model lineup. The store’s Figure-rise Standard Kuuga Titan Form/Rising Titan kit, manufacturer number 2580898, specifically requires assembly. Choose it because you want the character and the building project.

A character’s appearance does not tell you whether its model needs assembly. The Keroro Gunso Ver.1.5 + Flying Board kit is another assembly product, identified by manufacturer number 1141855. Its finished-model pictures show the intended result. They do not mean that an assembled Keroro will arrive in the box.

For a gift, find out if the recipient wants to build the subject before selecting a kit. For your own project, look for the instructions and the package’s requirements before adding supplies. The shared Bandai name does not establish that two kits need the same preparation. A Gundam grade or scale comparison becomes useful once you have already chosen a Gundam model kit as your format.

Finished figures shift attention to posing and contents

S.H.Figuarts answers a different need. Tamashii Nations describes it as a finished action-figure line in its official S.H.Figuarts Sam introduction. That particular product includes interchangeable parts and a dedicated base. Those are details of Sam’s release, so check another figure’s own contents before expecting the same accessories.

This is a useful distinction for someone who wants to arrange poses without constructing a plastic model first. A finished figure can still involve changing hands, fitting accessories or setting up a stand; “finished” does not make the contents list irrelevant. Decide which pose or display you want, then check that the necessary parts are actually supplied.

The Movie Monster Series Godzilla Minus One Odo Island version provides another figure format. The store identifies it as item 92252, and Bandai’s matching product page identifies a soft vinyl figure with articulation. That does not establish the same joint design or posing range as an S.H.Figuarts figure. Choose the creature version you want and use that exact item’s details when planning a display.

Option parts need a model to go with them

An accessory set can be the right purchase for an existing project and an incomplete purchase for someone starting from scratch. The 30 Minutes Sisters Option Face Parts Expression Set 5, Color B is a concrete example. Its listing is for the face-parts set; complete figures or base models shown to demonstrate combinations are excluded.

Bandai’s official manual index matches this set to manufacturer number 2568054. Preserve “Set 5” and “Color B” when comparing listings. Shortening the request to “30MS parts” removes information that distinguishes this product from another set.

Before buying, name the model receiving the parts and check the set’s instructions or stated compatibility. A shared brand or matching color label is not enough to establish every connection. If the product information does not confirm the combination you want, ask about the two exact items together. For a first 30MS purchase, decide on the character model before adding separate customization parts.

Turn a character request into an exact match

A useful request contains the product format, line, character version and item number. “Kuuga” leaves several choices open. “Figure-rise Standard Kuuga Titan Form/Rising Titan model kit, 2580898” identifies both the subject and the assembly product. Keep the manufacturer number separate from a retailer’s own SKU when comparing records.

Finish with the question that fits the purchase. For a kit, does the recipient want to assemble it? For a figure, does the contents list support the intended display? For an option set, do they already own the required model? Resolving that question before choosing an extra accessory gives the gift or project a clear starting point.
