1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87: Scale, Subject & Display Guide

Rather than repeating the catalog description for 1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87, this guide turns the scale model cars listing into a decision record. It explains how the Oxford Diecast item is identified, how the available evidence should be read, and where confirmation is still required.

Product identity without guesswork

• Exact product: 1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87

• Product type: Scale Model Cars
• SKU or catalog key: F977-87DS46007
• Scale stated in the record: 1:87

A correct match requires more than recognizing the brand. The scale marker 1:87 is part of the exact identity and should be matched before purchase. The year 1946 belongs to the listing identity; it should not automatically be treated as the manufacturing date of the item. The SKU F977-87DS46007 provides the most efficient cross-check when another listing uses slightly different punctuation or wording.

Reading the source record carefully

The source description says: “1946 DeSoto Suburban in Royal Maroon with roof rack and canoe by Oxford Diecast. This 1:87 HO scale diecast model is intended for layouts and collector display. Review the listing photos for the exact rack, canoe, wheels and packaging. Item: 87DS46007.” This is useful evidence, but it is not expanded beyond what the listing supports. Missing dimensions, materials, compatibility claims or package contents remain open questions.

How to evaluate this product type

For a diecast or scale collectible, the subject name alone is insufficient. Compare body casting, finish, graphics, wheel design, interior, base markings and packaging format. On 1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87, the exact photo set and SKU F977-87DS46007 are the reference pair; a model with the same vehicle name but a different wheel, road number or package is a different release.

Condition language must also match the format. A loose item is judged from the photographed surfaces and axles, while a packaged item adds card, blister, box and seal condition. A finished custom should be assessed for workmanship and disclosed modifications; a build kit should be assessed for included parts and fitment rather than as a completed collectible.

Where similar listings differ

When comparing another example, line up the images in the same order and inspect one feature at a time: front view, side graphics, rear treatment, wheel pattern, roof or hood markings, base text and package. A difference in any of those areas can indicate a variation rather than an error.

For display, choose storage that supports the item without pressing on mirrors, spoilers, blister edges or axles. For a build, dry-fit wheels and moving parts before paint or permanent adhesive. The product format determines which of those checks applies.

Using the gallery as evidence

Review all 3 available images in sequence rather than judging the item from the first thumbnail. Front, side, reverse, package and detail views answer different questions. The record is strongest when those views agree with the title and SKU F977-87DS46007.

Cataloging and project notes

A useful record for 1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87 includes the original URL, SKU F977-87DS46007, package or item photographs, option selected and any instructions. Gift considerations

Gift buyers should match F977-87DS46007 to a known collection, project or preference. If size, scale, interface or exact version is uncertain, preserve the receipt and avoid opening fit-sensitive packaging.

Decision record for future reference

The final purchase record for 1946 DeSoto Suburban Royal Maroon with Canoe – Oxford 1:87 should contain the vendor Oxford Diecast, product type Scale Model Cars, SKU F977-87DS46007, selected option, current price and the image used to verify the item. This set of evidence is more durable than a title alone and makes a later duplicate or replacement check much faster.

After arrival, compare the item with that evidence before discarding packaging or beginning work. Note any discrepancy, then record actual fit, condition or performance only after direct inspection. The resulting trail explains both the original offer and the owner’s later experience while keeping the article accurate, specific and reviewable.
