Lesney Matchbox BP Trucks: No.32 Tanker or No.13 Wreck Truck?

A BP-themed Lesney collection can include more than one kind of truck. MM's listed No.32 Leyland petrol tanker and No.13 Dodge wreck truck both retain visible BP graphics, but their condition and equipment need separate checks. These are loose, playworn examples described as not restored, with no boxes included.

The tanker: look across the whole body

The No.32 offer has a yellow cab, green chassis, white tanker body and regular black wheels. Its listing describes substantial paint loss and rubs on the cab and tank, with BP graphics still visible. Check the tank from both sides and compare the cab edges with the broad white surface. One intact printed area does not make the whole model mint.

Use all five product-page photos before deciding. The base marking recorded in the listing is Petrol Tanker No.32, Made in England by Lesney. Treat that as identification evidence for the pictured model; the article does not establish a production date or a rare variation.

The wreck truck: record the equipment

The No.13 offer has yellow-and-green body colors, a red hook and regular black wheels. Its description explicitly says the boom, red hook and BP graphics are present. Condition is playworn with moderate-to-heavy paint loss, chips and age wear. Inspect those components as well as the paint, and ask for clarification if their operation matters to you.

Choose by role and evidence

The tanker adds a fuel-delivery vehicle; the wreck truck adds recovery equipment. You do not need to choose the cleaner-looking broad surface without considering the other model's small parts. Keep paint condition, equipment presence and packaging as separate notes in your collection record.

For another equipment check, read the Matchbox crane and hook comparison. Before buying any loose vintage model, use the photo checklist to identify views that are missing. Presence in a listing is not a promise of accessory compatibility with another truck.
