Matchbox Construction Trucks: Build a Vintage Worksite & City Display

Build a Matchbox worksite around a few vehicles with distinct jobs. A crane, concrete truck and tipper create a more readable scene than a shelf crowded with unrelated trucks. Add support vehicles only after deciding how the site connects to the surrounding street.
Choose a focal vehicle
The Lesney No.30 eight-wheel crane is listed with a green body, orange boom and yellow hook. Its height and working silhouette make it a possible focal point for a vintage construction display.
Use the actual listing photographs to assess condition and completeness. A pictured boom or hook should not be treated as a promise of tested operation beyond what the seller describes.
Add a concrete and hauling role
The No.21 Foden concrete truck provides a different body shape and a clear concrete-delivery role. The store listing identifies a red, yellow and orange playworn example.
For hauling, compare the No.17 Hoveringham tipper with the No.48 Dodge dumper. Choose from their actual condition and appearance rather than assuming all tipping bodies or tailgates operate the same way.
Connect the site with a service vehicle
A No.13 Dodge BP wreck truck can support a roadside or depot scene. The No.32 Leyland BP tanker offers another vintage commercial silhouette.
These are separate catalog listings, not one bundled collection. Confirm current availability, supplied contents and condition on each product page.
Make the layout fit the models
Measure actual length, width and height. Include the position of a boom, dump body or accessory in the way you plan to display it. Do not assume all small vintage trucks share a strict scale with your buildings and figures.
Leave space around projecting parts and avoid using fragile original equipment to support other objects. A static display can suggest work without loading a collectible mechanism.
Check completeness before filling a collection slot
An inexpensive incomplete model can suit a parts or restoration project, but it is not interchangeable with a complete vehicle. The No.26 GMC tipper chassis-and-cab offer specifically lacks its dump bed.
Keep that fact in the inventory instead of treating the missing body as an unusual factory variation. For a vintage original, decide whether preservation or deliberate restoration is the goal before altering it.
Build the scene in manageable stages
Choose the focal truck, add one complementary role, and check the visual relationship before expanding. Use the early Matchbox checklist for individual identities and the diorama scale guide for the surrounding scene.
Build a worksite display from actual utility and road vehicles

Plan the scene around vehicle roles and available space. Check a pickup's bed, a crane's hook and a tipper's load body separately, and treat any unlisted cargo or scenery as something you will need to supply.
