2010 BMW M3 Collector Guide
This M3 keeps the shape of the road-going coupe: a raised hood center, small side vents and a short trunk. The early white and red cars look simple until you compare their wheels. Later releases add blue and black paint, BMW striping and a returning white multipack design.

A road car worth checking wheel by wheel
Fraser Campbell designed the casting, which debuted in 2011 New Models. White T9696 and red T9980 began the run, followed by a Light Speeders version and the blue and black 2013 Street Power releases. The silver 2016 BMW-series car adds red-and-black decoration. White cars with M-colored stripes appear in the 2018 Car Meet five-pack and again in the 2026 multipack catalog.

Choosing one for your collection
For an early white or red car, look at the wheel pattern before assigning a release. Y5, 10SP and PR5 are different designs, not just different names for silver wheels. For the striped white reissue, use packaging and base markings alongside the exterior: the 2018 and 2026 records describe the same decoration.
The comparison photos identify the white 10SP car inside its blister and the red PR5 car at the front right of a paired shot. The 2026 guide uses a clearly labeled shared exterior reference; that older photograph cannot establish a 2026 production date.
Collector questions
Why are there separate guides for cars with the same paint?
The early white M3 is documented with Y5 and 10SP wheels, and the red car is photographed with Y5 and PR5 wheels. Keeping them separate makes the wheel difference visible. The later striped white cars also have separate release contexts even though the catalog describes their exteriors as identical.
