1971 AMC Javelin Collector Guide
This Javelin moves easily from a numbered race car to a clean street-style coupe. The red, white and blue Vintage Racing car and gray number 8 wear busy sponsor graphics. Later releases let the body shape show through, with bright anniversary colors, reflective blue paint and a pale orange two-pack car.

Compare the broad rear quarters and long hood first, then the wheel faces and side decoration. The five photos cover distinct releases of this casting. The separately named Javelin AMX has its own guide; a shared AMC badge does not make two Hot Wheels castings interchangeable.

Choosing one for your collection
The front corners and the tops of the rear wheel openings are good places to check for paint wear. On the racing versions, inspect the small sponsor printing along the lower sides.
The orange car shares a package with an AMC Rebel. Keep the entire pack in view when checking a sealed example, and identify the Javelin by its position in the photo.

Are all these Javelins racing versions?
No. The early numbered liveries are easy to recognize, but the orange two-pack car uses much quieter decoration. The gallery lets you compare the actual releases.
