Hot Wheels Isuzu VehiCROSS — Casting Info & Complete Collector’s Guide

The Hot Wheels VehiCROSS is a 1:64 casting of Isuzu’s short, sharply styled compact SUV. Designed by Michael Kollins and Phil Riehlman, the toy debuted in the 2000 First Editions series and returned in four later releases through 2007.

Five documented versions make up this casting family. The quickest way to separate them is to match the release year and toy number, then compare the paint, collector number and pack graphics. The 2004 Tiki Torchers car is especially easy to spot because of its red-and-white rally decoration and white wheels.

The VehiCROSS casting

This tooling captures the VehiCROSS’s two-door profile, high stance, short overhangs and heavy lower-body cladding. Its first Hot Wheels appearance used an Astral Silver Metallic finish. Later releases vary the paint and decoration, while the Tiki Torchers 5-Pack adds a distinct rally theme.

The 1999 vehicle name appears on the 2000 First Editions release and on the 2004 Tiki Torchers version. The Hot Wheels casting’s debut was 2000; the date in the vehicle name is not a toy release year.

Physical details

Across the documented versions, the casting keeps the compact, high-riding VehiCROSS shape. Paint, wheels and decoration vary by release. The 2000, 2001 and 2003 mainline examples are listed with PR5 wheels; the 2004 Tiki Torchers example has white OR5SP wheels, white interior and dark tinted windows. The available record for the 2007 Walmart pack confirms its red finish and K7371 code, but does not document additional wheel or base differences.

The base date identifies the tooling copyright and should not be used alone to determine the release year. Use the exact toy number, package and visible finish together.

Identifying a loose VehiCROSS

  1. Compare its body outline with the short two-door VehiCROSS casting rather than identifying it by color alone.
  2. Check the toy code on the base: 24392, 50673, 57102, B3595 or K7371.
  3. Match the paint and decoration to the release table. Red examples can be the 2003 mainline car, the 2004 Tiki Torchers version or the 2007 Walmart 20-Pack car.
  4. For the Tiki Torchers version, look for white cladding and wheels, tiger graphics, rally wording and number 59.

Packaging and release context

The first three releases appeared in standard mainline / First Editions assortments. B3595 came in the 2004 Tiki Torchers 5-Pack. K7371 was issued in a Walmart 20-Pack. When a loose car’s base code is shared or unclear, the original package can settle the identification.
