History
The MiG 17 stands out as a prominent post-war Soviet jet fighter design, highly sought after by Warsaw Pact countries eager to enhance their air defence capabilities. In 1955, Poland received permission to produce the aircraft, resulting in approximately 477 units being constructed over five years for both domestic air force use and international sales.
These Polish-produced MiG-17s were designated as Lim-5, translating to 'Licence built aircraft No.5'. In the hands of an adept pilot, these jets remained formidable opponents against Western aircraft.
