HISTORY ASPECTS:
During the Normandy campaign of 1944, the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H with Schürzen served as a key component of the German armored forces, particularly within the 2nd Panzer Division. Equipped with additional side armor skirts (Schürzen) to mitigate the threat posed by Allied anti-tank weapons, these tanks were deployed to defend against the Allied invasion of France. The Panzer IV Ausf.H, known for its reliability and versatility, played a vital role in the German efforts to repel the Allied advance and maintain control over strategic positions in Normandy.
As part of the 2nd Panzer Division, the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H tanks saw action in numerous engagements throughout Normandy, including the battles of Caen, Villers-Bocage, and the Falaise Pocket. Engaging in fierce armored clashes against Allied tanks such as the Sherman and Churchill, these Panzer IVs demonstrated their effectiveness in combat, leveraging their potent 75mm main gun and robust armor to engage and destroy enemy armor and infantry units. Despite facing overwhelming Allied air and ground superiority, the Panzer IV Ausf.H remained a formidable adversary on the battlefield.
