HISTORY ASPECTS:
The USS Arizona (BB-39) was a Pennsylvania-class battleship and one of the most powerful warships of its time when commissioned into the United States Navy. Designed during the early 20th century as part of America’s growing naval strength, Arizona featured heavy armor, a formidable battery of 14-inch guns, and advanced fire-control systems for its era. Throughout the interwar period, the battleship participated in fleet exercises, training operations, and goodwill missions, serving as a symbol of U.S. naval power and presence around the world.
By the early 1940s, USS Arizona was based at Pearl Harbor as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. On December 7, 1941, the ship was moored along Battleship Row when Japanese forces launched a surprise attack in the Attack on Pearl Harbor, marking the United States’ entry into World War II. During the attack, Arizona was struck by armor-piercing bombs that detonated in its forward ammunition magazine, causing a catastrophic explosion. The ship was sunk rapidly, resulting in the loss of over 1,100 crew members, making it one of the deadliest single-ship losses in U.S. naval history.
Although USS Arizona did not participate in combat operations prior to its destruction, its loss became a defining moment that galvanized American resolve during World War II. Today, the wreck of the Arizona remains at Pearl Harbor as a solemn memorial, honoring those who perished and symbolizing the sacrifice and determination that followed. The ship’s legacy endures as a powerful reminder of the cost of war and the beginning of the United States’ full-scale involvement in the global conflict.
This 1:700 scale model is a meaningful tribute to one of the most historic ships in naval history. Featuring accurate detailing of the Pennsylvania-class design and its wartime appearance, it captures both the strength and solemn legacy of the battleship. Perfect for collectors and history enthusiasts, this replica honors the memory of those who served; add it to your collection today for a respectful and iconic centerpiece.
