Hot Wheels Thunderburner: The Black Knight Wheel Guide

The Black Knight graphic is the quickest way into this Thunderburner identification. A yellow helmet and sword run along the black body, with a red plume behind the helmet. The same decoration appears with different wheel styles, so the wheels deserve as much attention as the paint.

Gold Hot Ones: the 1987 entry
Item 1456 is listed for 1987 with gold Hot Ones wheels, a black interior, clear glazing and an unpainted Malaysia base. The reference car above shows visible edge wear and rubbed printing. It is useful for identification, not an example of untouched condition.
Ultra Hots need a separate comparison

The second image shows the slotted Ultra Hots wheel faces. South Texas Diecast lists this version for 1989, while the Newsletter’s digital catalog places it under 1987. The cropped package view does not resolve the year. Keep the full card and its identifiers before claiming a particular issue.
Thunderbird Stocker came first
The body was previously sold as Thunderbird Stocker. Its 1984 white number 21 Valvoline release is item 5900, with gold Hot Ones wheels. Later Thunderburner colors and Velocitor releases have their own decorations and base details; they should not be described from this black car alone.
Look at the sword and roof edges
Fine printing on the helmet and sword can wear while the large yellow shapes remain recognizable. Ask for a close side view with even light. Check the raised rear edge and the corners around the windshield for chips or touch-ups.
A wheel-face photograph helps separate the two versions shown here, but originality still needs the rest of the car checked. Save the underside and all four wheels using the loose-car checklist.
