1990 Hot Wheels Kenworth Big Rig #76: Stripe-Order Buyer Guide

The 1990 Hot Wheels Kenworth Big Rig #76 has two recorded stripe orders. A side photograph that clearly separates red from orange is more useful than a broad description of a black semi truck.

Identify item 1790
The Big Rig / Kenworth catalog records black paint, red/orange/blue side stripes, gray glazing, black Malaysia base and blackwall wheels. Its two 1990 entries distinguish orange over red from red over orange. The casting appears in the preceding year's Workhorses range.
Stripe order is not the same as missing print
Request a straight side image in neutral light and compare both sides. Do not classify a worn or obscured stripe as a new factory combination. Ask for another angle when reflections make red and orange difficult to separate.
Later #76 releases use different wheel styles. Package evidence is important when the precise issue year matters; a black body and familiar number alone do not establish a 1990 card.
Check the hitch, cab and axles
Ask for the rear deck and underside as well as the cab. Inspect the coupling area, projecting details and wheel alignment. Confirm whether the offer includes only the tractor or a separately supplied trailer; a truck photograph with display scenery is not a parts list.
Look for chips on the nose and cab edges and ask about repaired components or repaints. For carded examples, inspect the seal and blister around the long chassis. Record car and package condition independently.
A larger Kenworth ready for display

The New Ray T680 is a finished 1:32 model with rubber tires and opening hood and doors. Choose it for a larger truck display, checking the dimensions and current offer on its product page.
For assembly instead, the AMT Alaskan Hauler kit is a different 1:25 Kenworth project. It requires assembly, paint and model cement. A kit and a ready-built tractor are not interchangeable gifts.
Big Rig questions
Does a stripe-order difference prove one truck is worth more?
No. Compare dated completed sales for the specific configuration, originality and condition. The catalog records the difference, not a current premium.
Do the shopping photos show collector #76?
No. They show a separately labeled modern Kenworth. Search the actual loose-car listings for vintage availability.
