1994 Hot Wheels BMW 850i GUH: Gold Medal Speed Guide

Gold Ultra Hots—not just any gold BMW wheels
The 1994 Hot Wheels BMW 850i GUH belongs to Gold Medal Speed. Identify item 13581, collector #255, before comparing a seller’s gold-wheel claim. The referenced release is metallic dark blue—not maroon. [1]

This guide focuses on the gold-wheel version. For the regular-wheel counterpart, use our 1994 BMW 850i UH identification guide.

Request a rear three-quarter photograph that shows the glass and logo together. A side-on wheel photograph is useful, but it does not establish the complete variation. Photograph the whole package when it is available.
Three different meanings of “gold wheels”
The original wheel design
Ultra Hots is a particular wheel design. Compare its face with a wheel reference rather than confusing gold color with a five-spoke, three-spoke or wire-spoke design. [2] Ask for neutral-light photographs when the finish appears unusually bright or dull.
Another factory configuration
A shared body color or collector number is not enough to make two packages interchangeable. A variant with another wheel design needs its own release evidence. Do not assume a seller’s “1994” title covers every similarly colored car.
A deliberately customized BMW
An aftermarket wheel swap can be an appealing display piece. It should be described as a custom, with the wheel change disclosed. It is not evidence of a rare factory run. Decide whether your goal is an untouched variation collection or the appearance of a finished build before spending money.
Collector shorthand is not an appraisal. GUH describes the gold Ultra Hots treatment. It does not establish production quantity, factory authenticity or a guaranteed resale premium.
Like gold wheels? Choose a clearly disclosed BMW custom
The offers below are different BMW castings, not 850i factory variants. One is a completed M2 custom; the other is a BMW M3 DIY project. Check the product pages for current prices, available quantities and included components.

Red BMW M2 · gold wheels
A finished 2016 BMW M2 custom with gold five-spoke wheels and redline rubber tires. Choose it for the custom finish, not as a factory Gold Medal Speed car.

BMW M3 DIY project
A stripped, ready-to-paint BMW M3 project. You finish the build; review its components and choose upgraded wheels, tires, paint and assembly supplies separately.

Before paying for a gold-wheel variation
Inspect all four wheels
A close-up should reveal each wheel’s design, finish and wear. Ask about replacements and look for axle damage or signs of reassembly. Uneven color alone cannot tell you whether the issue is lighting, use or a later modification.
Check the rear glass and body edges
Inspect the window logo, roof and sunroof area, pillars, nose and rear corners. Ask for an additional angle when glare hides the glazing. Record scratches and paint chips rather than relying only on broad condition labels such as “excellent.”
Keep the card as evidence
For a packaged purchase, save photographs of the printed item number, collector number and complete front and back. Check blister edges for lifting or resealing and note card creases. An unopened-looking package still deserves inspection; the seller should disclose any restoration or repair.
How to compare GUH prices fairly
Compare dated completed sales of the same wheel and window configuration in similar condition. Separate loose cars from carded examples and single items from lots. Include delivery costs in your comparison. An unsold high asking price does not establish what your car is worth.
There is no supported blanket price hierarchy here between the GUH and UH versions. Choose the variation you want, verify it, and then compare the available evidence. When photographs do not settle the identity, ask for details rather than paying an assumed rarity premium.
Building instead of collecting factory variations
Measure the donor before choosing wheels and rubber tires. Do not transfer one BMW model’s wheel dimensions to another. Preserve an original’s documentation before modifying it, and describe the completed project as a custom if it is later sold or traded.
Collector questions
What does GUH mean?
Gold Ultra Hots: a wheel-design and finish description. It is not a promise of a chase edition or rubber tires.
Should I use this guide for a maroon BMW?
Do not assume a match. Compare the full identification card above; the former article’s maroon description was incorrect for the documented version.
How do I compare the ordinary UH version?
Use the separate regular-Ultra-Hots guide. It focuses on the baseline release, glass and logo checks rather than treating the two versions as one listing.
Is the gold-wheel M2 shown here an 850i variation?
No. It is a different casting with an aftermarket wheel swap, clearly offered as a finished custom.
Are gold wheels automatically worth more?
No. A defensible comparison needs the identified release, originality, condition and dated completed-sale evidence.
Can I order an exact 850i from this article?
Only a separate matching product listing is a sales offer. Search results may not contain one. Ask about a particular listing when needed.

Keep factory collecting and custom building clearly identified, then shop for the version you will enjoy owning.
Make the Hot Wheels BMW 850i GUH record reproducible
For this article, confirm the BMW 850i GUH as a complete Gold Medal Speed configuration rather than a gold-wheel assumption. Use a fixed photo order—front or package, both sides, wheels and underside—so two examples can be compared without relying on seller shorthand.
Compare the regular UH guide whenever the package or wheels remain uncertain. Record uncertainty directly rather than converting a partial match into a factory, rarity or value claim.
