1995 Hot Wheels Kenworth Big Rig #76: Collector Guide

The 1995 Hot Wheels Kenworth Big Rig #76 is black with red, orange and blue side stripes. It is not the red-body version described by a generic truck guide. Begin with the paint, wheels and package, then inspect the hitch and running gear before buying.

Identify the black Big Rig #76
South Texas Diecast's Big Rig / Kenworth T600 catalog records the following combination. Its release history begins with the 1989 Workhorses version.
| Collector / item | #76 / 1790 |
|---|---|
| Body | Black |
| Side decoration | Red, orange and blue stripes |
| Window / base | Gray / black, marked Malaysia |
| Wheel references | Sawblade (SB) and seven-spoke (7SP) |
Earlier stripes, later wheels and confusing package dates
The earlier #76 blackwall entries distinguish red-over-orange and orange-over-red stripe arrangements. A similar black seven-spoke truck also appears in the 1997 Just Trucks five-pack. The silver 1996 Race Truck #381 is a separate decorated release, not a black #76 paint shade. Release comparisons.
A collector discussion on Mattel's community forum specifically addresses seven-spoke trucks sold on cards with older copyright information. It is useful supporting context, not authentication of an individual listing. Record what the car and package actually show instead of copying a date from a seller's headline.
Inspect a tractor as a tractor
Hitch and rear chassis
Ask for a clear top-down view of the coupling area and a photograph from underneath. Look for breaks, stress marks, repairs or a modified connection. Establish exactly what is included: a tractor photographed next to a trailer does not automatically mean both are part of the offer.
Do not force a trailer onto the hitch to test it. A shared brand name or approximate scale is not enough to establish coupling compatibility. For a display that needs a working connection, request dimensions and an unforced fit demonstration from the seller.
Cab graphics and wheel sets
Inspect both side panels so the striping can be compared without reflections. Check the window piece, body edges and rear section for damage. Ask about repaints or replacement parts when one component looks inconsistent with the rest.
Request low side views and a flat-surface photograph to assess the axles and wheel alignment. Compare every wheel face; do not identify an entire truck from its one clearly visible front wheel. Decide whether rolling performance is important for your display before accepting a disclosed problem.
Choose a finished Kenworth or a building project
These shopping photographs show different Kenworth products, not the 1995 Hot Wheels #76. Their manufacturers, scales and assembly requirements are stated separately.

New Ray Kenworth T680
A finished red 1:32 tractor, item 11073. Its listing specifies rubber tires and opening hood and doors. Choose this for a larger truck display, not as a substitute identity for the vintage release.

AMT Alaskan Hauler kit
A 1:25, skill-level-3 assembly project, item AMT1339. Paint and model cement are required separately. Product imagery may show a completed model; this offer is a kit.

For a packaged vintage truck, examine the blister around the cab and rear chassis, plus the seal and card. For a loose one, record damage and replaced parts explicitly. Keep single-tractor sales separate from truck-and-trailer sets and multi-car lots.
Use dated completed sales of the matching release and condition, including delivery charges. Old catalog price columns and unsold asking prices are not a current appraisal. A wheel abbreviation alone is not a reason to promise a resale premium.

Kenworth Big Rig questions
Can the number on the card identify the year by itself?
No. Compare the wheel version, finish and package evidence together. Collector numbers and copyright information can appear across more than one release.
Does any similarly sized trailer fit?
Do not assume that. Confirm the hitch dimensions and compatibility without forcing either piece.
Are both shopping options ready-built?
No. The New Ray T680 is a finished model. The AMT Alaskan Hauler requires assembly, with paint and cement supplied separately.

Make the Hot Wheels Kenworth Big Rig #76 record reproducible
For this article, identify the black Kenworth Big Rig through its stripe pattern, collector number, wheels, hitch and rear frame. Use a fixed photo order—front or package, both sides, wheels and underside—so two examples can be compared without relying on seller shorthand.
Do not force the hitch to prove movement; disclose stiffness or damage. Record uncertainty directly rather than converting a partial match into a factory, rarity or value claim.
