Vallejo 71.168: Match Ten Camouflage Colors to Your Model

Vallejo 71.168 combines ten Model Air camouflage colors with a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra airbrush and a color chart. To decide whether it fits your next model, compare the individual colors with the scheme you intend to paint. A compact set is useful when its contents match the work in front of you.
Check the actual palette
The ten listed references are 71.009 Eau de Nil, 71.013 Yellow Olive, 71.023 Hemp, 71.031 Middlestone, 71.035 Camouflage Pale Brown, 71.038 Camouflage Medium Brown, 71.056 Panzer Dark Grey, 71.075 Sand (Ivory), 71.079 Tan Earth and 71.092 Medium Olive.
Work from the color references when comparing the list with your instructions. A broad description such as “olive” or “sand” is not enough to establish a particular historical color match. Decide which colors are required for the base scheme and which would serve a separate weathering or highlighting task.
Ten colors or a larger case?
The 71.173 camouflage case offers 29 colors with an airbrush. Compare it when several planned models call for a broader palette. The 71.168 set keeps the selection smaller and explicit. Choose the contents that cover your intended schemes, including paints you already own.
The 71.167 basic set is a different package: eight colors and two auxiliaries with an Ultra airbrush. Ten bottles do not necessarily mean ten paint colors, so compare the contents rather than the box count.
Prepare a sample of the planned scheme
Before painting the model, prepare a small sample using the same surface preparation and planned colors. Check coverage, the boundaries between colors and the dry appearance against your reference. Follow the paint and airbrush instructions for the setup. The airbrush paint guide explains how to run the first spray test without changing several variables together.
Check the included airbrush's manual and the compatible air supply and hose arrangements. The set name does not establish that a compressor or every preparation and cleaning product is included.

Which airbrush is listed?
The set is listed with a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra. Use the instructions for the actual supplied airbrush rather than assuming a newer generation's specifications.
Will I need additional colors?
Compare the ten references with your model's paint list and the colors you already own. Buy additional colors for an identified gap in that scheme.
