GeminiJets Qantas: Yam Dreaming 787-9 or Standard-Livery 737-800?

Representative current product image for GeminiJets Qantas: Yam Dreaming 787-9 or Standard-Livery 737-800?

Choose GJQFA2385 for Qantas' Yam Dreaming 787-9 artwork, or GJ2371 for a smaller 737-800 in the white-and-red-tail scheme. Both are 1:400 GeminiJets models, but the Dreamliner needs considerably more wing space. Neither selected offer includes a stand.

The 787-9 represents VH-ZND. The 737-800 represents VH-VZW. Those registrations distinguish two different Qantas aircraft, not two interchangeable finishes on one model.

Yam Dreaming: choose it for the specific artwork

The Yam Dreaming 787-9, GJQFA2385, represents the aircraft Qantas named after artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Qantas identifies its design as inspired by her 1991 painting Yam Dreaming and adapted for the aircraft by Balarinji.

This makes the scheme more specific than a generic red graphic treatment. For a Flying Art-themed collection, match VH-ZND and the 787-9 designation rather than choosing any Qantas aircraft described as having special artwork.

Choose it as the focal point when the livery is the main attraction. Display it where the decorated fuselage and tail can be seen, instead of obscuring one side behind a taller object.

VH-VZW: a compact Qantas 737-800

The Qantas 737-800, GJ2371, is white with a red tail and registration VH-VZW. It is the relevant option for that aircraft identity or a smaller Qantas fleet addition.

This is not another Yam Dreaming release. Choose it for its own airline scheme and 737-800 subject, especially when the collection needs a smaller aircraft rather than another widebody.

For a flight-memory gift, confirm the variant and registration where possible. A trip on Qantas does not by itself establish that either of these two aircraft was the one used.

How the same scale produces different footprints

The 787-9 is listed at approximately 6.125 inches long with a 5.75-inch wingspan. The 737-800 is approximately 4 inches long with a 3.5-inch wingspan.

Those catalog figures make the Dreamliner's additional wing clearance clear. A parking space or shelf compartment suitable for the 737 should not be assumed to fit the 787.

Both retain the same nominal scale, so they can form a coordinated Qantas pair without deliberately changing model proportions. Confirm actual measurements for close-fitting cases and leave room to handle the models without contacting their wings.

What both offers provide—and exclude

Both product descriptions specify diecast metal with plastic components, exterior detailing and no opening panels. Neither includes a stand, airport building or ground equipment.

For a tabletop airport, the GJAPS008 mat guide explains how much room the larger 1:400 layout requires. A small fleet can also be displayed without committing to a full airport surface.

Choose a centerpiece or a fleet addition

Pick VH-ZND when the Yam Dreaming artwork is the reason for the purchase. Pick VH-VZW when you want the 737-800 and a smaller footprint. Choose both for a deliberate Qantas fleet comparison; the linked products are sold separately, not as a set.
